I'm on this program at home. He was getting regular shipments of ink that he didn't order. You'd think that would be a clue. Technically, when someone cancels our maintenance contract, the toner in the unit becomes unfunded. We have every right to go and remove it. No one ever does but the unused toner has not been paid for.

Yep this one threw me for a loop! WTF! Did NOT see this coming. Here's another question: What's going to happen to all the Canon engines in HP printers? Will they switch to Samsung engines now? That could be a huge revenue loss for Canon. They make a lot of money on their patents.

Here's something I picked up on alerts tonight: HP Inc. CEO Dion Weisler started Monday with a bang. His company, a giant in personal computer and printing, said it would buy Samsung’s printer business for $1.05 billion. Weisler’s hope is that the deal would help HP hpq better compete in the copy machine market and help offset declining sales of printers. HP said Samsung’s printing business brought in $1.8 billion in sales for its fiscal 2015. This number is just a fraction of HP’s overall...

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement

Art Post ·
This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement

Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.

Toshiba Tec has been manufacturing inkjet print heads for industry for many years. Japanese manufacturers that make and provide copiers worldwide are facing stagnation in the demand for their products, mainly due to the market saturation in advanced countries and a reduction in profits from consumables. As a result, they have lost their investment incentive for toner-based product development. While they are aggressively investing in and developing products for production and industrial...

Makes sense, although I’m not convinced a billion dollars would deter HP inc. With their recent turmoil from supplies disconnect who knows. To get to their goals they will need a better more mature hardware range that includes office light production and they need it fast. Re: Xerox & Fuji Film Coming down to the Wire

I’m sure the engines are probably ok but dropping their formatters and drivers on top have allot of teething issues. In HP world they have a 49.xx error which is generic formatter/driver issue. I know a few dealers have dropped them and gone back to their original brands because of the high labour costs. It’s all very new technology I’m sure they will get it right after a few more generations

I'd love to see it but I think in the end very few people really care if it is made here. Many people claim that they want to buy US made goods but as soon as they have the opportunity to do so they go right back to the foreign, cheaper goods because of the cost. This whole buy USA thing has gotten so much attention recently due to Trump, but until people change their tune about wanting it as cheap as possible nothing will change. I agree with Jason. It would be nice to have technology manufactured in the US in general. But at the end of the day our labor expenses and manufacturing process automation/quality assurance seem lacking in the globalized landscape. Manufacturing copiers and printers here would also involve moving the manufacturing from existing plants. In a market space where existing manufacturing is below capacity, it would make the case harder to move one. To provide a solution - why don't we reinvest in...
