Thank you Carl. We've had to reschedule the meeting. I didn't realize how ancient it was until I pulled a buyers lab report on it! I'll have more after I meet with the guy next week.

Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Re: Quality Digital Office Technology
Art, we've got a rep that covers York / Gettysburg and he confirmed this. He said he heard it went down ~ 6 months ago and they started reaching out to clients towards the end of 2019 to let them know. Gonna be a big change as Quality had a lot of loyal clients (also were giving away service at rates like .003 & .032- > I've gotta imagine that'll change quickly)

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: FM Audit and other USB discovery devices
I have used FM Audit, Print Audit and @Remote. Neal is right but I think we have spoken about that before. My results have been a bit better with FM Audit than Ricoh's lab testing but I spoke to Mark Pollack (sp?) about the FM Audit test and he told me it consistently missed 60% of the printers on the LAN network. They all have their quirks and they all only give you volumes - not costs. I need good data gathering tools as I do about 12 assessments a month now. I couldn't find anything...

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.

Re: RBS Sales Reps
People will do anything and say anything in this business to win a deal... I like the idea of the news article. Couldn't you also have your reps carry a few pictures of the Savin model next to its corresponding Ricoh model to show they look exactly the same? Or use Buyer's Lab. Glad you still won the deal, even if there was low margins in it. I've never understood why manufacturers have a direct and dealer presence in the same city. I guess they don't care because at the end of the day, they...

Fisher/Czech This what we've done now: pictures, buyers lab, and the ny times article. They could care less. They asked us to drop our other lines and go back Ricoh only and we told them we would if they will close the RBS branch. Also told them there would be a monetary figure considering how expensive it gets taking on additional lines.

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Art, I agree. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was this may be Canon's answer to HP's PageWide A3s as well as Wide Format. Vince

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Toshiba Tec has been manufacturing inkjet print heads for industry for many years. Japanese manufacturers that make and provide copiers worldwide are facing stagnation in the demand for their products, mainly due to the market saturation in advanced countries and a reduction in profits from consumables. As a result, they have lost their investment incentive for toner-based product development. While they are aggressively investing in and developing products for production and industrial...
