Its pretty strait forward. Default the scanner to Store File to HDD. At the PC create a desktop shortcut to Web Image Monitor. Have customer click on Print Job/Store File -------> Document server. They will be able to download the document. The real problem though is you are encountering a lazy IT guy. Any IT guy worth his salt will help you set up scan to folder.

More fluff. If anything it adds to my set up time as I disable the home screen and make the machine work like the customer's previous machine did. Also frustrated that the new print drivers are set to default to duplex printing so I have to go to each workstation and change it back to simplex. Just adds extra steps. When I get some time I will probably use the print driver editor to create drivers for all workstations with the rite settings.

I'm not sure about what you are asking exactly... You can scan two images and merge those together. I'm sure you can do the same with the already existing drawings. The easiest way is go to the Scantool Editor and cut and paste one drawing onto the other. You can also merge docs using hard copies onto the 470 itself...but is it more guesswork to do. Hope this helps

Why not store this as one whole document. I understand that certain sections need to be updated, but ... The 2090 Document Server has the Editor capability. With this feature you can select ranges of pages to be deleted and then simply added by scanning in the new updated pages. Plus once you enter the settings for this entire job, they are kept, regardless of how you delete and add pages. But perhaps the greatest way to impact their productivity work flow would be to connect this system.

Hey Guys, Once again, thanks for all the help on this one. The bad news is that even though the system is connected and printing, my plan to store the tabbed sections individually and print the job as a whole to the doc server still did not work. I thought that I had worked around my problems by using DTB to combine the multiple sections and send them to the doc server as a single job and then apply print settings. However, DTB will not allow the user to print to the doc server. So, I'm back...

Your service people can also go to the TSC Web Site and downlaod the RPCS Driver Editor and easily make changes to the drivers. I think the have a black print only driver as well.

In general, scan in the word cover sheet and save as a bmp that can be insert into a fax cover page your are creating with the lanfax cover page editor utility (ifexdt.exe). Insert the merge fields over it and that may be as close as you can get.

Presuming the client does not want to force the image to a format size, it's a good idea to right justify while using the axis offset in the scan settings box. Also, try using the image editor to De-Skew, then crop if the image size realized is off by a smidgen.

My biggest concern is the lack of acknowledgement from Ricoh that color scanning is going to be a big deal. I've already lost a couple of deals to Kip's color scanning capabilities. They've actually been able to beat my price on the 240W with color scanning capabilities included on theirs. I'm not sure what Ricoh is thinking with the discounts to WF only dealers and not to full line dealers. Seems like another way for the dealers to fund Ricoh's market share expansion.
