PPBG is planning on launching the Ricoh Pro C720 Series on February 1st. The Pro C720 has the same mainframe as the C900 and it's accessories are identical. This is a great addition to our product line, because it fills the gap between the Ricoh Pro C550/700EX and the Ricoh Pro C900. We really didn't have a product to compete directly against the bizhub PRO 6501 and this provides us with a much better offering. The only differences between the configurations of the Ricoh Pro C720 and the...

I would like to hear from anyone that has some insight on the new Bizhub color production 80 PPM system. I heard from a customer that they were shown this unit in a "behind the scenes" preview at Print 09 and that KM would be launching it this spring. From what I gathered, they beefed up the g/m² , changed the feeding mechanism, tighter registration and would share the accessories as the b/w 1200 unit. Very curious to see where it is positioned relative to Ricoh's production products.

We played with one at Ricoh's Monster Mayhem, and it was a piece of junk. There were too many nested menus to go through in the control panel, it was very slow at processing print jobs and felt extremely cheap.

Specs for the bizhub are impressive! Here's how I would handle this. 1. I always bundle e-copy "desktop" software with every system. I make sure I show the customer the advantages of the copy desktop software before I speak about speeds and feeds. This software could make the difference in landing the sale or not!! 2. Support is always number one in the customers mind, provide them with a list of customers that you have that they may know. 3. Position yourself as the "expert", dig deep for...

First is this your actual reply to the account looking at thoseToshiba products listed (455 & 305)? If yes and they have a great history with the Toshiba product, telling them there a "bottom dweller" would make anyone think that you're only wanting to sell them what YOU'RE offering. The models they requested are older models of Toshiba and who knows if they've worked well for them or not. Also if you research the Okidata product, most of their MFP's are based on the Toshiba platform now...

Actually, I did not mention that I am offering any equipment to them. I'm not even sure where they are located, I'm not looking to sell them, All of the recent MFP's that I've seen at the shows have pretty much the same GUI> I do remember something about a more robust partnering with Toshiba/

FYI: Toshiba, overall, is in the top ten for R&D Spend-to-Sales ratios. "Bottom dweller" really is not a fair use of words. With any device manufacturer, product is only as good as its dealer support. Get references if need be. RE: maintenance; The asker is talking B&W devices not color. Regardless, get the maintenance. Fewer spikes in copy quality or hardware issues because you'll make that phone call to fix rather than putting up with poor copy quality, etc. for fear of how much it...

TimB: Thanx for the comment! I believe you with the top ten in R & D for Spend to Sales ratios, but I don't R & D being conducted for copiers not like Canon, Xerox, KonicaMInolta & Xerox. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. Was a standalone machine. They were making a copy of an inkjet print. Naturally the CF3102 did a better job at reproducing this image as expected. Tried the 'Manual Gamma" adjust in the service mode, boy what a waste of time that it was. Everything was already maxed out from the "Auto Calibration". Could not increase the density from the IDmax to the Low range where I needed to make the adjustments. Example is the two could not be seen on the standard C4 color test chart. On the Minolta it...

Re: Is anyone having problems with the 350/1035/2035 series?

Toner Soprano ·
Ricoh's mid volume machines are the weak point for Ricoh. I work on Konica minolta and those are no picnic either. We use the BEI services compensation plan for our bonuses. The worst copier according to the BEI report is our 5645 Lanier model (Ricoh equivalent???). The only mid volume products that produce good revenue and reliability are the Bizhub c350/450 models.

Re: Konica Minolta and 140lb index

We're dual line Konica and Ricoh. That info is accurate for some of the bizhub line, but not every model. The 350-250-200 monochrome engine, for example, does not do that. But, the C351 and C450 color engines do. No repercussions if engine is rated for the weight and paper meets spec. Otherwise, we'd handle it like any other service issue where the problem is caused by client's actions.

Amen to everything said above! Be aware that not all printers have embraced digital printing and you will be competing against press manufacturers. (By my digital printing definition, I am including good high-volume copier/printer systems such as Konica's bizhub 1050 with digital presses such as Kodak's NexPress.) Actually, you are competing against digital presses (ie., NexPress, iGen, Indigo, Xeikon) AND traditional presses designed for short runs (ie., Printmaster). So, in addition to...

All you have to do is look at the competitive analysis (See Attached) between the Ricoh C4503 and C6502 against the competitors from Canon, Xerox, and KM to see how much of a difference True Adobe PostScript makes in the printing speed. Emulation machines are noticeably slower, to the point that you could argue that a lesser Ricoh needs to be proposed in order to compare accurately.

I wanted to respond to the "Best Software & Services Providers" Award. It's my understanding and I could be wrong, is that a dealer survey is sent to "x" dealers with the above questions. There were four nominees that I heard of and they were: ACDI FM Audit Paper Cut Square 9 Where is DocuWare, Nuance, Print Audit, PSIGEN, MWAI and the others? Which got me to thinking. I agree Rick Taylor has done a superb job at KM but I think he does win it every year. Rightfully so in my opinion, but I also believe Cannata uses the same dealers every year. Since I met them a couple years ago and we use 4 or 5 partners on the lists now we have been included in the voting for the last 2 years.

Ty for the comment, I think the same about Taylor. So, unless those dealers change who they use as third party supplies, none of the other will ever get on the list.

I think buying Nuance would be a great opportunity for Samsung to get deeper in the solutions side of the industry. However, I 100% agree with Yeti that it's too small of a division of Nuance. Knowing that iPhone's Siri uses Nuance technology gives Samsung huge opportunities to work with or against Apple.

Jason: What's your honest opinion on the C700? I saw a live demo on it and wasn't impressed. It was designed to compete with the bizhub PRESS C1060/C1070 which Canon sorely needed, but unfortunately it's way overpriced. The quality of the print was pretty good, however the registration was way off. Canon only seems to sell them when Konica Minolta isn't in the deal.
