Re: What's the weirdest place you've sold a copier to?
Picking up a signed order in the morning for a Canon color with hole punch and staple, from an Amish farmer-printer. Best two parts of the qualification process was having to run samples of a digital plate to run his offset presses and ensuring the power was in spec to be run off of his diesel generator/alternator set up. Oh yea, and he's got a tow motor we have to use to get it to the second floor. Been selling almost nine years and have been in lots of unique places too. Starbucks roasting...

Re: How I turned $15 into a 24K Opportunity
Hey Art! I started using Aweber email software about 5 months ago. I send out a monthly newsletter with a customized template. People read it! Best part is that you always stay top of mind with your prospects. I actually exported my contact list from my CRM software and imported that into Aweber. Currently have about 100 prospects and customers in my email list. It's great! Much cheaper than a mailer.

Re: Who really needs 250 GB in a Konica Minolta Hard Drive!
Almost no idea what you are talking about. In my experience, people who have workflows that would benefit from storing images to the copier also need a Fiery controller. In those types of worflows with high-res color images, its quite easy to wind up with very large files. I've seen files stored on the Fiery that were more than 1GB for a single file. So, in those specific types of workflow, yes, a larger hard drive is not only useful but necessary. For general office work, there is generally...

Re: MPS And Profit
There are a number of factors that impact start-up cost for MPS clients. In the traditional "copier" world, prior to putting machines under contract we would inspect them, perform service to bring it up to spec and bill the client. In MPS, we just put them under contract, so the start up cost can be virtually nothing or cost an arm and a leg depending on the condition of the machines that are being placed under an MPS Agreement. Another factor is how much toner the client has on hand prior...

Re: What is the future for DigiDoc Flow, eCopy and NSI?
Toshiba seems to be taking the position of developing customized processors that are optimized for MFPs. The benefit is much smaller size, faster processing (measured by quicker FCOT) and lower power consumption. Many manufacturers use "off the shelf" PC processors due to lower cost and less complicated to develop. Xerox commonly convinces buyers to include the spec, "must have a minimum of a 1.2 Ghz processor" for their Black only copiers as a "knock-out" feature. The MFP industry will...

Re: Scan Router Pro Costs
From: ricohaficio Sent: 5/10/2002 6:37 AM How it all started....., Just a quick story for those of you who don't know. A few months after the 850 was first introduced, I was able to secure a demo for the 850 at one of my potential accounts. This account is a copy center and is a Canon House. The owner is a great guy, I had been courting his business for about a year before the demo. He stated that as long as the copy quality is similar to the Canon iR600's he would pull the trigger. They...

Re: Canon IR105 'Z' Folder
I didn't check the spec's, but from what I have experienced it does not slow down the speed of the copier. But I have had some customers complain that it cannot Z fold to the edge on the last fold. Canon designed it to leave a 6mm gap for some reason and it cannot be adjusted to compensate. Most companies that have interest in using the Z fold to insert ledger documents into letter spec books are used to have a "clean" edge fold. Also, the Z fold is only an option if used in conjunction with...

Re: SCANROUTER PRO WORKING WITH SAP
When you installed the LanFax driver it will install as a printer. Select that as the printer to print to when you click ok it will pop up the LanFax window that allows you to enter the tel number, a cover page, etc. If this is not happening make sure you downloaded the NT4 LanFax driver for the 2035/2045 and reinstall the driver. If you are still experiencing the problem contact your service provider to make sure the machine is operating within spec with the latest firmware installed.

Re: Ikon to relabel The Konica 8050 Color System
With extreemly aggressive service rates and a duty cycle of 150k per month (and unlike other manufacturers Konica has a history of meeting their spec) this product is going to kick out a great deal of production units, as well as a few creative units. Ricoh just is not a player in color beyond the printer. The 6513 is just the most recent in a series of failures in the mid space. As far as color printers, it is allways the cost per page and flexability that makes these limited.

Re: You Can't Satisfy Every Customer
You're better off without them. There are times, like this one, where you are better off firing a customer. I did this to a customer recently that had a color unit and consistently ran the unit out of spec using media way over what was recommended. When we met for an account review they said that I should be ashamed of my service department because of the jams that couldn't be stopped. I packed up my papers, shook their hands and suggested that since the lease was up in 3 months that I'd...

Re: 8 Bit to 2 Bit Color
That is a good explanation of what 8-bit and 2-bit mean, however both the 6513 and the CMF7000 have 8-bit color. They both print 256(8-bit) gradations of each color (CMYK). The 8bit vs. 2bit distinction comes in when scanning. According to the CMF7000 spec sheet it has a 2-bit scanner, the 6513 spec sheet says it has an 10-bit scanner. Theoretically the Print quality should be very similar to a 6513, but copy quality should suffer. There are 10 types of people in this world... those who...

Re: Saddlestitch on 2232
Here is some interesting info. The saddle stich unit is identical the one sold by Canon and minolta/konica. But our spec are slightly differnt. For instance the canon can not have a 3 hole punch added. The kon/mon is speced for up to 24lb paper. We can do up to 34lb. Also on the Konica if you saddle stich anything larger the 8 1/2 by 11 then you can only set it for 25 sets or less.

Re: 3800C, duplex 90lb??
Actually 90lb Index (162.75 gram) paper is in spec for the bypass and it can be manually duplexed but if they do a lot of it you will have fuser issues. Paper stock and handling (heavy stock, glossy stock, envelopes ect) is still our Achilles heel on the Ricoh color printers IMHO. Maybe it will be addressed by Ricoh someday

Re: Fuser problems on DSc338/C3828/1238
when you say thick paper i hope you mean no more than 43lb. bond. any heavier will cause your fuser to shred up just like the 3800. most spec sheets say 90lb. index is the max weight but 90lb. index translates to 43lb. bond.

Re: CL400dn
I was lead to believe it is a Ricoh design. The product manager from Japan was here last week and was quite proud of that fact that it was a Ricoh OEM. The printer has preformed flawlessly for us and we have tried to break it. Envelopes, cardstock, glossy/coated, out of spec stuff, it ran it all. We have been burnt before by the 204/305/306/Cl5000 junk so I am always skeptical about the Ricoh line when it comes to anything but 28 lb bond or less. We carry HP also and I have to admit that it...

One question. Under Scanning, it says the Xerox will only do 600dpi resolution. Now a 600DPI wide format scan is an incredibly large file, at least several Megabytes in size. This makes me doubt this spec is true.

Re: Konica Minolta and 140lb index
We're dual line Konica and Ricoh. That info is accurate for some of the bizhub line, but not every model. The 350-250-200 monochrome engine, for example, does not do that. But, the C351 and C450 color engines do. No repercussions if engine is rated for the weight and paper meets spec. Otherwise, we'd handle it like any other service issue where the problem is caused by client's actions.

Re: Konica Minolta and 140lb index
I got the weight information that I quoted above straight out of their spec sheet and Product and Sales Guide; it also was discussed during our sales team's launch training. It bears out with what our service team is seeing. I do not see anything in Konica's materials for this model series about t-shirts. Must say it surprises me that anyone tries to put t-shirt transfer materials through a laser printer or copier anyway, since the transfer material is fused to the t-shirt fabric with an...

Re: New P4P Web Site Launch April 1st 2007!
I'm hoping you don't restrict access to documents based on who you represent as a dealer. I think it's handy to have access to all the manufacturers' documents in one location, and since most are public knowledge any way, what's the harm? I'd rather come here and get competitive info quickly than spend the time to go out to each manufacturer's web site and download their brochures and spec sheets.
