Re: Things getting weird for Xerox Dealers
Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. Parts I can somewhat understand, but toner? Hope that your...

I can confirm a new offering. Xerox has a new program for signing on new dealers and not putting them in the Global or Agent bucket. These dealers can then be trained to use thier own technicians. I will check with my source about them using Xerox techs.

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
Canada charges a 270% tariff because the US has a massive over supply of milk production. If US dairy product was to enter Canada without tariffs it would destroy our perfectly working dairy industry. Why should the USA be allowed to destroy our milk industry so as to partially solve a problem created within the USA? Besides, how do you think Canada maintains its "free" single payer health care system. It is by charging high taxes on all consumer purchases. I do not think that anybody thinks...

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
What about the term "Free Trade" do you not understand? You argue the advantages of lower lumber prices for Americans while disputing the value of lower dairy prices for Canadians. Free trade suggests that the market should decide what is best for the consumer. Free trade would also suggest that your exorbantly high taxes really shouldn't be a factor. We should probably leave the health care debate out of the equation. I for one would rather have what we have than what the Canadians have,...

Re: Xerox explores sale of leasing finance unit: sources
Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Well.... not really. I do agree there is a "concern" about your info left on the copier. However, the vast majority of copiers will have little or nothing of value and it'd take me a significant amount of time to determine if the copier had anything worth taking. Give that I'd have to pay at LEAST $300 (as in the CBS story) for just the CHANCE to find out if there may be some shred of info there, I think it's very doubtful any identity thief would pursue this. Even if they did, it would...

Re: Canon shaking up the great white north
Are we seeing a new business model emerge? Ricoh will sell off the mid market business and focus entirely on health care, government, and global accounts? It appears they are at least exploring the possibility.

Re: Canon shaking up the great white north
One thing to think of is Regina where this happened is the provincial capital of Saskatchewan which is currently the strongest economic province in Canada (due to resources being super strong right now) so Ricoh is not going to be doing provincial government, health care etc. direct anymore in this province. That is a significant move and really does show that their direct model cannot cut it in the smaller markets.. They are not corporately dealer friendly so it will be interesting to see...

Why would a health care organization be storing sensitive docs like that on the document server when it is intended to store more generic forms etc...? Re: Best Black & White MFP for 10k/month yeild. Suggestions?
First is this your actual reply to the account looking at thoseToshiba products listed (455 & 305)? If yes and they have a great history with the Toshiba product, telling them there a "bottom dweller" would make anyone think that you're only wanting to sell them what YOU'RE offering. The models they requested are older models of Toshiba and who knows if they've worked well for them or not. Also if you research the Okidata product, most of their MFP's are based on the Toshiba platform now...

Actually, I did not mention that I am offering any equipment to them. I'm not even sure where they are located, I'm not looking to sell them, All of the recent MFP's that I've seen at the shows have pretty much the same GUI> I do remember something about a more robust partnering with Toshiba/

Re: Best Black & White MFP for 10k/month yeild. Suggestions?
FYI: Toshiba, overall, is in the top ten for R&D Spend-to-Sales ratios. "Bottom dweller" really is not a fair use of words. With any device manufacturer, product is only as good as its dealer support. Get references if need be. RE: maintenance; The asker is talking B&W devices not color. Regardless, get the maintenance. Fewer spikes in copy quality or hardware issues because you'll make that phone call to fix rather than putting up with poor copy quality, etc. for fear of how much it...

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. No, we are not doing this, however this was a topic of much discussion last week. RBS has a plan like this in place, something to the tune of $800 added to the base of the equipment. we discussed adding $450 fee would cover all aspects of network installation upto 10 users, including Scan2email, scan2folder, print drivers and training for the software. The CSR (Customer Support Representative) would also have the ability to "sell the extras" once in the door. The would have a "click quota"...

Re: Pay Plan
I think that service should get to retain some of the "after the sale" business. I also think there are great opportunities to make extra money once systems have been installed. In the NY metro area, prices are very competitive, on going service and maintenance costs plays a big roll in the decesion making part of the business. Dave is right, if the customer has perceived that there is value and the customer will receive some type of benefit, whether it be a monetary ROI or a increased...
