Re: Manufacturer Support on Bids
Been ages since I posted anything on here! Jason, back in the day for me Canon didn't do anything unless it was minimum $50k wholesale. KM on the other hand was extremely aggressive with doing whatever was needed to get our wholesale price down. We also had a fantastic dealer account manager though who would go to bat for us every time. In a RFP situation, you would think they would understand that you are dropping your margins or more than you expect the manufacturer to. "Where there's a...

The policy shall cover all owned and non-owned vehicles. Such insurance shall have minimum limits of $500,000 per occurrence, combined single limit for bodily...

Re: Successful Walk Through
Bids are very precise things versus a RFP/RFQ's or Quotes. If a bid and you can offer something no one else can then push for your strengths to be included e.g. if you can offer PCL at no cost (or PPDM) try to have it included. If its a large opportunity do a SWOT (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats) analysis over your known competition. If its an RFP or RFQ I've had good luck by offering something of true value that others would charge extra for, this sets you apart and gives...

Re: MOM Sues OSU for $1M over COMDOC Secret...
An office-company filed a lawsuit against Ohio State, saying the university wrongly awarded a potential $24 million printer and copier contract to a competitor. Modern Office Methods filed the lawsuit on Sept. 26 in the Court of Claims, requesting that OSU set aside its recently awarded contract with ComDoc, Inc. and rebid it. According to the documents, Modern Office Methods said a ComDoc employee met with an OSU employee, unknowingly to the other top-two competitors, Modern Office Methods...

Re: Image Quality Not a Main Criteria in MFP Purchase
Color quality is not an issue, until it is an issue! Too often customers wrongly assume that if one MFD can do something fine, the other it do it just as well. They WANT it to be a commodity! The reason that many of the features of an MFD are only mildly interesting to the customer is either because WE have done a poor job showing them how the feature will help them solve a business problem, or you are talking to the wrong person. If you are only talking to the Purchaser then all they care...

Re: Is anyone else facing this from Xerox?
In PA, Xerox has been pushing this promo to the school districts for three years now. We have a couple of disctricts that have Riso's and won't even entertain us on the copier side. The only way you are going to beat this is to wait and hope they screw up with servicing the account, other than that, there's no way to beat the price. Most of the schools are very happy with the program, the ones that aren't on it, hate Xerox and refuse to allow them on the RFP. I haven't heard anyone get hit...

Re: More Samsung to HP Transition Items
@fisher we took a hiatus of promoting their product for a while. We have had problems getting parts for machines which has caused problems. We are working on a 50 machine deal with Samsung gear right now (mostly because of the price point they will offer) and I’ve got a new rep who I knew before and before we went through the rfp o expressed my concerns and he has been on top of everything. I still don’t think we will sell a ton of the gear but hopefully it gets better and we can continue...

Re: Samsung - Where Are The New A3s
Jake, I was told by my Samsung DSM that they would offer steep discounts on the previous generation since they had a lot of inventory. I am working on a large RFP and requested price support on the new mx4 series and they came back with a decent support plan but the previous generation had much more of a support plan with it. I was also told they have a large inventory or previous models to get rid of.

Manufacturer Support on Bids
How is everyone's support from their manufacturer on bids? I am noticing that it seems they do not want to mess with them anymore. We were starting to work on a 40 machine RFP for a fairly large organization. Call my Konica rep and he looks over the RFP and tells me "fantastic, use your dealer pricing".....I said no you need to go and get some pricing support and he said there won't be any extra support. Canon is the same way. Unless its over 250,000 they say there's your price book, use it.

The new RFP will include the specification that the selected vendor's name must begin and end in the letter "X". An oversight from the first round. Should never had gone the "BID" route the first time - RFP's allow for shenagians, bids are harder to play with.

Art, Sounds like an interesting concept. We all do appreciate your time and effort to maintain this board. I do have one gripe though. That is paying for the RFP or bid section? Why, because the probability that there will be an RFP or bid in my geographic area will not be very high. So really it is a gamble to be a premium member and never see one rfp or bid in my area. There has to be a better way that is more economical for a person to get an RFP/bid. Even when that section was open there...
