On a cold call I stopped in at a doctors office. The Office Manager was so glad to see me. She said that she was having fax issues and every time they received a fax it jammed. I told her I wasn't a tech but I would take a look. She escorted me to the fax and I looked down to see some questionably cheap paper. I simply asked if she had tried changing paper. One of my large medical accounts contacted me about this one. They were totally freaked out over this potential threat even though they had no machines in their fleet with the vulnerability. Meanwhile you could walk to almost any fax machine in any of their locations and grab patient info from the fax trays.

Do the same math on the 2045e vs the 2075. You get $260 vs. $373. That's the same $100 difference you got on the printers. I really don't think the methodology you are using is a good judge of value. Compare the price you pay for the extra 15cpm you get on the 2090 vs the 2075. The point is, you are paying for alot more than just speed. That having been said, I agree with you that they are overpriced...I just don't agree with the methodology you used to arrive at your conclusion.

Some quick questions that you may or may not be able to answer: 1.) The 1224/1232 were mono-component...are these also? 2.) The 3200 series has units from 24cpm up to the 60cpm 3260C. Were you given any idea what was going to be structurally or mechanically different from bottom to top. Surely these aren't all going to be the same box running at different speeds. 3.) I've been in copier biz since 1985 have seen LOTS of copiers come and go, some terrible (somebody mentioned the Ricoh 5560 the other day) some great (1022/1027,1015,2018,/551/700/1060/1075/2060/2075). ALL the new equipment is a billion times better than the equipment in the old days. A BILLION. Really , the Ricoh equipment line is amazing. I also received this in an email about the roll feeder: We did an install of a 3601 a few years ago at one of his customers, and plopped it right on top of the old 240 roll feeder that they had...with no trouble at all. Hope this is all you'll need to convince "the man" !

and this: As far as "proof" that it will work...... I have been a Ricoh WF dealer for 15 years. I have installed the 2400, 3600 and the 3601 on top of 240 roll feeders. They all work. The connectors are exactly the same. The printer does not "know" what roll feed is underneath it.

Haha! Something pretty funny in with one of the links below. "Moving closer to the paperless office". This was fifteen years ago. Do you remember the Ricoh C1224? Was a color MFP that had a speed of 12 pages per minute in color and 24 pages per minute in black. Needless to say that Ricoh never informed sales that the copier would go into auto calibrate during a print or copy run for up to minutes! Crap there's a ton of threads below! From 1998-2003 many of us in the copier industry ew nothing about network printing and scanning. In addition neither did our managers and techs. The Print4Pay Hotel allowed us have a community where we could share experiences technical stuff and help meet our client expectations.
