Re: Will outside Sales Rep's go away?
In 10 years there WILL be outside sales reps, and many of them will be the committed, true professionals of today. The E-Commence platform have changed our business and how we do it. For example gone are the days when you could duck into a 15 story office building and cold call. But electronic format can still be your attention getter and facilitate your efforts in creating interest. I can buy anything on line and cut out the sales person. Try doing your own investing and getting the right...

JS, I am doing this for many accounts. The value prop for the customer is the ability to browse to folder from the MFP. I mention none of the other features unless asked. We install to the customers server, I build in 3 hours of pro services and then bundle the entire cost in the system. My selling advantage is that with my system you can browse to folder from the MFP easily. Art

Re: Color clicks
JWS- Good luck getting your machine to count correctly! We went round and round with Ricoh and our rep about this. They swear it counts correctly, we know it doesn't. You are correct in that it can be application- dependent; some apps will click correctly, but Acrobat prints, when there are mixed originals, usually treat the whole job as color. I experimented with different drivers (PCL / PS3 / Universal PCL), but could never resolve the issue for our client (a church). BTW, the ame doc...

I have one of these in the P4P market, after 4 months all seems well and customer is satisfied with media offereing and quality. The one thing that has changed for this unit, since its the same engine as the MPC6000 and MPC7000 is that default from the factory is 11x17 single click and lower consumable costs. Making an inroad will depend on how dealers will position this unit, dealers more than ever can now be competitive with single click 11x17, and if you're going to play in the P4P you...

RICOH PRO 907/1107/1357 PRODUCTION PRINTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Where do the new Pro Series Production Printers fit in the Ricoh high volume monochrome printer product line? A. The new Pro Series Production Printers are successors to the highly successful Digital Document Publisher models, the DDP70e and the DDP92. Re: RING BINDING
5050: Search the internet for "GBC Pro Click" and you should see a very, very similar example. Advantage of this binding is the ability to re-open and change/insert/delete previously bound pages from the "book". I don't like the resulting bind as much as I do the GBC Comb (Cerlok) Binding but the "Pro Click" bind is a finished set when removed from the device.

We really didn't have a product to compete directly against the bizhub PRO 6501 and this provides us with a much better offering. Re: Does your Copier Service Contract still reflect 1970's Analog Copiers?
Over my 15 years as a Sales Manager to 23+ independent dealers, I have seen many situations where dealers simply has far too simplistic service contracts that had not been updated ever. They mostly involve billable Pro Services, unstable Power Supply, two competitive vendors trying to flip each other's Service Contracts and Fuel Surcharges. Re: Competitive Copier Vendors
I think the local dealers biggest advantage against the National vendors is flexibility. Dealers naturally have much shorter chains of command due to having far less employees. Therefore, dealers can make quicker decisions. The National Vendors are always going to have the advantage of price and a lesser concern for profitability. If you cant beat them on price, thow in some change-ups on them. 1.Free Pro Services 2 Free HDD Decommissioning 3.Copy Blocks 4. Throw a "bonus" Office Chair,...

Re: scanning using auto color select
I've seen that on Ricoh and Canon products. So I think it's a problem with Acrobat more than the MFP. The issue is that the file is tagged as a "color" document so the MFP prints it as a color document. We tell our customers that when you print, the only way to be sure to get charged for a B&W print is to select B&W in the driver.

No, absolutely none of them do this. There is no MFP/printer (at least from Ricoh/Canon/HP/Lexmark/Kyocera) that will print a (truly) black document and click it for color. Now, there are many many times that a document appears to be B&W to the human eye and contains color to the computer's eye. The most famous instance of this is Acrobat 4. Acrobat4?!?!? you say? No one uses Acrobat4! But that's not true. For compatibility's sake, many scanners with a direct to PDF option (even...

You have a good point with the dual componet color from Canon. If I remember correctly the pitch from Canon was the developer mixed with toner is your monocomponet, which will keepprint and copy quality very good over the long haul because you never run low on developer like the dual process that everyone else uses. When it comes to Canon's Pro units, I don't know if these are dual or single, what I can tell you is that I prefer the halftones on dual better, but the knock is that as the...

Andersand, Have you checked for updates on Acrobat 9? I would also try Acrobat X or 8 (just make sure they are also updated). Even the free Acrobat Reader is good for a test. Many of these entities will file for bankruptcy, therefore much of this debt will have to be written off anyway and the losses go far beyond any single community as you well know. 5100/5110 replaces 550/700, 6502/8002 replaces 6501/7501. And with this model there are actually some significant differences between the pro and office models so don't just sell them the pro one because it must be better. For instance the warm up time is 60 seconds for office and 5 minutes for pro.
