Re: Printing from Word Perfect
From: Ted Sent: 9/19/2002 9:18 AM I found with the Church, when they tried to print 750 Monthly Newsletters, it sent the job 750 times. This was 12 pages being put into a booklet mode and printed. The first time they did it it took about 7 hours. We figured out that you have to put the number of copies inside the properties box, not on the first print screen that pops up when you select print. If you do it on the first screen, the computer sends the job the number of times you selected. If...

Re: Service Agreements and "Free" Copies
Art: A) I understand about the pump priming method, however it seems like this is assuming the customer was not going to print any color if we didn't give it away to begin with. That is a HUGE assumption. I don't completely get your math. It seems like you're saying a 1500 volume would yield a big profit. If you look at the table below, assuming that color costs 5 cents to make and the customer pays 9.5 cents for the overages, you only make $20 a unit in profit at 1500 per month. If you...

Re: 240w meter count?
Yes, the 240W only counts Linear feet, and the manual says the drum and developer should go about 90,000 l.ft. The corona wire goes 20-30k, drum blade about 40-50k, we regularly get over 100k on the drum, except for damage. There were a few drums 2-3 years ago that would give ghost image problems on large jobs (over 70 sheets). this happened when the drum was a couple years old, but only had 30k ft. Reprographic Technologies has a great drum that I think is superior to the OEM, and costs...

Re: Canon U.S.A. to Launch Océ ColorWave 900 at PRINT 13
I'm probably about to prove my ignorance of wide format. 6,000 sq.ft. per hour is 50 d-sized a minute, correct?
Reply
Re: Canon U.S.A. to Launch Océ ColorWave 900 at PRINT 13
Here's the math: 6,000 Square Feet / 60 minutes=100 square feet per minute Divide that by 3 (if your wide format is 36") to get linear feet per minute = 33.3 Divide that by 2 (since D is 24" long) to get 16.67 per minute This machine's rated speed is 12,000 sq feet an hour,or 200 square a minute. Divide that by 3.5 (since the machine is 42" width) to get 57.14 linear feet per minute. If you are printing D size prints, divide that by 2 to get 28.57 per minute.

Re: hp ready to rock?
I'm actually trained on these products. It's about two weeks of my life I will never get back. It's 750 pounds of cast aluminum. It's not easy to move. It comes in a wooden "tuff shed". Special shipping kits are required to move the machine without damaging the print heads. It's a variable speed copier. It can do anywhere from 10 to 71 copies a minutes depending on paper, coverage and humidity. It uses two windows based computers to run it. It's about a 3-4 minute "boot" time to warm up.

two things - have your customer set up an HP 750 as the driver to create PLT files. then go to the HDI driver, and device properties. click custom, then custom again. under graphics, amke sure grayscale is merge lines, NOT overwrite. Should help.

Re: On the road printing
You might look into Ricoh's "Mail to Print". This is where you can assign a working email address to the copier and email an attachment to the copier. The attachment automatically prints when the email arrives. You don't need to be on the network (you could be in Hong Cong :> and you don't need an app or driver. Some rules... the MFP has to have the Fax Option and the email can only have one attachment and the attachment has to be a pdf, jpeg or tiff. I just set this up at the office for...

Re: Oce PlotWave 450 Scan Question
That is Fast! In my experience, the limiting factor in scanning w.f. originals isn't the hardware, it's the ability to load, position, and un-load the originals. I like the way my Savin machines can be easily converted to a "flat" scanner, which when used with a SureStack, can really scan fast! You are only limited by your ability to load the next original.

Re: Oce PlotWave 450 Scan Question
Oce' machines are weak. Expensive and a terrible user interface compared to a Ricoh or KIP.
