I wouldn't know, either we don't have access them or they are just available for Direct. It's been my belief that it's just a marketing ploy and all of the systems in the signature series still have to be configured. I could be wrong. Can anyone else chime in? How about some of you from the Direct side!

Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. If color quality is important to the customer it will be a win. Another point is showing them you get what you pay for, meaning 3 tier color is what they have...

It has to be laser and heavy duty like that Ricoh you’re talking about. Brother has inkjet and Sharp has small stuff. They are expanding the department so volumes will go up. So it has to be heavy duty

John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. I disagree that you have to own the network in order to offer seat-based billing. Before I go into why, can we (imaging industry) please stop referring to Managed Services as MNS? No one in the IT world uses this term; it's industry jargon that makes you stand out as a copier dealer 1st and an IT Services provider 2nd. Managed IT Services, Managed Services...fine. I can confirm a new offering. Xerox has a new program for signing on new dealers and not putting them in the Global or Agent bucket. These dealers can then be trained to use thier own technicians. I will check with my source about them using Xerox techs.

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

If I am hearing this right, you have two issues...USB access and driverless/wireless printing. Others have USB printing, we don't. John, I don't know if this is still a live issue for you but I thought of you while reading up on the Fiery Controller Option for the C2800/C3300 and the C4000/C5000. In an FAQ Document under wireless printing options it states, "When printing from USB removeable media, the Fiery will print Postscript and PDF File formats. If the Fiery has internet access and the Native Document Conversion option (i.e. EFI PrintMe) then you can also print native Microsoft Office Documents from your USB..."

wow, thanx for that! I thought we were safe with the lastest Ricoh security measures. Are we? I knew older copiers were very suceptable to getting information, however with recent upgrades with Ricoh products are we safe? Seems like none of us are safe except for pulverizing the drive as you stated. How is everyone else handling this? Is the CBS guy blowing smoke, or are there criminals out there buying copiers just to get access to the hard drives and if so, it's gotta be a hot and miss...

Much faster access time, 100% reliable, no moving parts, can't crash the drive head with sudden loss of power corrupting drive. Much smaller, lighter, much lower power consumption. Much less heat generated. Much less headaches for Service Dept compared to HDD as there is virtually no service required. An SSD can fit mechanically into the same hardware slot as a HDD. I would say you answered your own question. Why would you double the cost of a component of your copier when the benefits are negligible? You mentioned faster access time which is true. Don't you hate standing at the copier while the screen is saying "Please wait, Accessing Hard Drive?" You mentioned 100% reliable, which is not true. They are certainly more reliable, and there's no concern about drive heads, but once again, not a lot of problems there. The most common issue with hard drives...

Also, it could be useful as a "Wrap Around" sales tactic against National copier Vendors. By this, I mean it is probably difficult for Xerox or Ikon to bundle them into their quotes. scanning is thru a network only. Why not use the Ethernet port, connect a WAP to the Ethernet port and then connect the WAP to the wireless network. WAP = Wireless Access Port. You can get a wireless switch to act as a WAP pretty cheap and don't have to run around in circles.

The demo and product were great. I have some questions about latency with on-premise SharePoint and Exchange. I would think UDOCX would access to both from the Internet which means users would have to configure their sites for external access. Obviously with a complete cloud solution using Office 365/BPOS this is not an issue. I just attended a Microsoft event for Office 365 and it is quite an improvement over BPOS.

I think Old Glory means A4. Remember, 4 is less than 3 (it's a metric thing). You should be able to create an "envelope printer" by installing a second instance of the printer with the same IP address. In the PCL 6 driver (not universal), you can go into the printer properties, print preferences, detailed settings and rotate the image 180 degrees. When you say the printer "red lights", what is the error? Is it a paper type mismatch? If so, what is it calling for? How may envelopes are they...

They are going to sell all non inkjet printing and all non-production printing patents and downsize significantly. Good lesson for everyone about reacting to the inconvenient truths before its too late. Kodak made too much money off film to accept the transition to digital and never recovered.
