Re: A Couple of True & Not So True Humerous Copier Incidents
On a cold call I stopped in at a doctors office. The Office Manager was so glad to see me. She said that she was having fax issues and every time they received a fax it jammed. I told her I wasn't a tech but I would take a look. She escorted me to the fax and I looked down to see some questionably cheap paper. I simply asked if she had tried changing paper. She said "I don't have any control of the paper the hospital sends when they fax me." OooooK. She obviously didn't understand the...

Re: RISO ME9450 Questions
Aside from RISO's SF5130, all of their duplicators now come standard with a network card for network printing. However, printing from MAC OS requires ordering a Mac Driver which requires a license key ordered from RISO - doesn't cost anything to order. Also, RISO's Mac Drivers are always behind with current Mac OS versions. They haven't released a driver compatible with OS X 10.15 even though it's been about 6 months since 10.15 was released. Sorry I'm late to the party.

There is an all inclusive cpc charge for the Erasable Blue toner. The cost per copy analysis suggests that if on a 60 month lease you do not expect the the customer to erase more than 210,000 pages (3,500 pages per month) you can forget the parts cost and charge the same cpc as for Black at around $0.010 per page with a decent profit. There is no charge other than the users effort to recycle pages printed with erasable blue. If a sheet of paper costs $0.010 and Erasable Blue costs $0.010 you...

Re: Toshiba e-Studio Erasable Toner 4508LP Questions
There is no charge to erase pages. A 3rd paper drawer would probably be useful. Letter/ Legal/ Erasable. The number of erased pages are recorded and displayed in the useful Paper Re-use Report which describes sheets of paper saved, CO2 saved and money saved. The Eco-MFP can erase pages at 17.5 sheets per minute.

A new rules based print driver can automatically makes software apps like emails auto print in blue plus provide a new counter to show how much paper, CO2 and money you saved. when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. Re: Competing Against Igen, Indigo, etc
The growth is on the very high end and the very low end in the this business. I would tend to think that it's not long before the copier manufacturers attack the extreme high end in years to come. As being "GREEN" becomes ever more popular to save paper, I think copies, and print clicks will move downward, thus forcing the manufacturers to capture more high end placements.

This leads me to ask if there is any brand out there that is really good with printing onto glossy paper? I mean a fuser is a fuser no matter who makes it I thought, but maybe a certain brand fuser has some kind of advantage? And taking it further, why? Is there a different substance being used in the materials, ie: pressure or hot roller or maybe the toner adheres to the paper better with some brands, and if so what is in the toner that does that? I can see a printing press being able to...

Re: Things to Think About!
Yes Jason you can remove every piece of paper the requires a name and address even in a state that you have to carry a registration. You can hold onto the registration but remove the name and address. If you are pulled over to show registration you have the right to tell the officer why you removed the name and address from the registration. Then you can show them a drivers license that will have the required info they are looking for.

Love the flanges for the paper rolls in the fact that they are adjustable for either 2" or 3". Best part about the unit was the ease of setup and use of this system. Art, this is a serious issue. This is no different than hard drives in our computers, laptops, netbooks or anything that uses a HD. They are all storing electronic digital magnetic information. Re: Are Step Leases ethical business practise?
The worst one I saw was $180k BOP on a $15k copier. He had been "step leased" several times. The previous Office Manager refused to discuss copier leases with anyone. Eventually he was replaced and the new Office Manager could not believe the situation he was in. Desperate copier vendors like to promote step leases because the big copy Block gives them a large extra chunk of cash up front. The large amounts of paper promised are usually more than the customer can use and another source of...

Re: Are Step Leases ethical business practise?
If you find yourself getting blown away by a competitive quote being so much cheaper, a Step Lease might be in play. These type of compettive players know you are the incumbent in an account and well thought of. The only way they can get at your account is to come in at half your price with a large copy block and free paper included. You are immediately put on the defensive because the DM thinks they see such a good deal. The only way you can get back on top of this account, is to use the...

Re: Possibly moving to Ricoh....
Some great points in this thread. In the end all of the main copier products do the same thing...they put toner on the paper, fuse it and offer a collection of ancillary tools which in many cases are more important (like scanning) than the copy function anymore. Someone said earlier it was the whole package that the client wants to buy...they get impacted from everyone in your dealership, admin, billing, shipping, support, sales and yeh your suppliers too. Re: Samsung Pushes Into Crowded A3 Market
I've never liked the GUI's on their A4's, I thought it was a more print centric device. If their GUI remains the same, I'm thinking tough existing A3 customers will have a tough time with the interface. I think the MSRP for 25ppm device is high, sctually very unless it comes with an additional paper bank and finisher. So far that's it from me, I haven't had the chance to do much research on these devices.

I have probably done each of these options at some point in time...well except the quote at retail. I wouldn't want the perception to be that we had outrageous pricing. If the machine was entry level with a company that had little additional potential, I would respond with something like "a Doctor who prescribes without seeing the patient would lose his license and you take your job just as seriously." If it is a business that I would like to penetrate I would low-ball it and include nothing...
