Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"

Jason H ·
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

One major MPS company reported 29% decline in pages or revenue Another major MPS company reported a 71% decline Healthcare for one of those clients saw a 40% increase More inquires from clients in respect to file sharing and content Expecting continuing decline for another 30 days in revenue and prints First week of April they hit bottom and has stayed that...

Monte I don't believe you are paranoid! The ecommerce is a real threat for sales peeps. In order to over come that we as sales peeps will need to wear additional hats to better serve out clients. Those as a trusted adviser, become more knowledgeable with cloud services, IT services, MSP, MSSP. It's my belief that we will evolve from just print to be able to consult on all aspects of business office. I would love to hear from others on this as well, this is a great subject for discussion.

The Epson thing is a joke. You can buy it on-line for less than you can buy it from Ricoh and so can your customer. I've got a customer right now who is at end of term on a 48 month lease on a LW426 and I have no choice but to go back to them with the exact same machine......oh and my cost is now higher for that same machine thanks to Plotworks (which gets thrown in the garbage). Would love to have KIP now.

Art, I call Bull ****! At least for our industry, the copier industry! This may be true of a commodity (like envelopes, or coffee, or even a PC) but copiers, really MFDs require a lot of attention, both before and after a customer buys it. This article seems to be written by an old brick & mortar company that successfully transitioned to internet sales. This will work for any company that drop ships their products. And I agree that the MFD manufacturers would LOVE for this to be, or...

Got it, what we use is an exit tray that is sold by "Copier Solution Shop". The new exit tray will allow "e" size documents to exit to the front of the W6700 and they don't have to use the rear exit. I believe it will stack 50 or so. All of my clients love and their has never been a complaint. Here's the link https://www.copiersolutionshop...put-tray-rot-1.html, I will check for a video. I thought I posted one in the "pic's" section of this site.

Art, love this! You know my take on the integration of social into the sales process. Sales requires hard work as most will not put forth the effort. The reason why ones social anything stinks is their effort, plain and simple. Operating with an analig mindset in a digital world = death blow to a sales rep.

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days

Old Glory ·
I, for one, don't care much what Ricoh thinks about my selling options. Tariffs also have a way of redirecting business decisions. China may sease to be a viable place for manufacturing. No manufacturer has 100% of their maunfacturing being done in China. No matter what, the effect of any tariffs will be watered down by whatever manufacturing that is being done elsewhere. I would really love to see something that tells what % of manufacturing is being done in China broken down by...

Re: Personal Property Tax

Here’s a problem we run into in Maryland: The state does not charge personal property tax, but some (but not all) counties and even municipalities, do. Obviously, each county/municipality has its own tax rates. We use GreatAmerica Leasing and they offered us “Property Tax Included” rates for the state of MD, but the rates were actually very high considering some of our clients are located in areas where PPtax would not have been charged anyway (at least at the lease’s initiation…and of...

txeagle24 ·
Considering Samsung's penchant for allowing other manufacturer's to relabel there product (Xerox & Muratec already relabel their A4) I'm curious as to whether Ricoh's A4 will be made by Samsung or Ricoh, particularly since Ricoh already relabels some Samsung printers. The other relabel option could be Lexmark because of the relationship they have w/ the Ricoh InfoPrint division. I love the new Lexmark A4 products offered to their BSD partners, by the way.

Just installed the 9700 today at a client site today and it is amazing. Kicks out D size full color plots with full coverage in about 45 seconds, and they were beautiful. Love the flanges for the paper rolls in the fact that they are adjustable for either 2" or 3". Best part about the unit was the ease of setup and use of this system. Very happy to have this as part of the lineup I can offer, and not have to give my leads to my buddy who works for a competing large format dealership.

As Bill W told me this AM, maybe the view from 30,000 feet was something Espe wasn't about to fall in love with. I thought this was a dynamic move for Ricoh, they needed someone like Espe at the head of the wheel. Now, I'm thinking something is drastically wrong with either the current business model or the Ikon/Ricoh thingy. Time will tell. Would like to hear from others on this!

Re: Another Ricoh Direct Give Away

Ford would LOVE to go with this model. Unfortunately, state franchise laws make it virtually impossible for auto manufacturers to eliminate dealers. That's why the domestics have two to three times as many dealers as they need, compared to the imports. This leads to lower average selling prices, lower dealership value, and a need to gather margin elsewhere. Such as muffler wax and windshield wiper protection plans. All in all, worsening the car buying experience. Some links...

I, too, have only feedback regarding DDF. I have at least 6 placements who love it - easy to set-up and use. For the cost, which I cannot relate to the NSI product (Autostore, I assume), DDF has a nice bit of functionality - especially if sold as the basic + features package.

They do keep on truckin', I'll give you that. With the big push to MPS, however, customers are looking to move to more of a distributed printing model instead of centralizing on a few big MFP's. Additionally, MPS has forced everyone to learn how to service HP devices if they didn't already, & anyone can pick up faster HP A4 desktops from Tech Data, & the CPP will be very comparable. I think the product will be a hit!!!! Think of how many customers you have that love the scanning capabilities of their full sized Ricoh MFPs. Wouldn't they love to have a compact unit with the same functionallity and the same color touchscreen? How many medical offices would love to have a tabletop MFP with the scanning capabilities of Ricoh's large MFPs??? The key will be the price. If Ricoh prices it too high it will flop.
