John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
John, Do you buy Papercut from ACDI? You can engage their Professional Services to help with the install. Just roll that price into the deal. After a few installs your SEs will get more comfortable with it. Vince

John, I just searched the CANON KB and don't see anything on this code. Are you sure that is the error code that the Canon is showing? Have you called ITC for support? They have been great to work with on technical issues. Vince

Hi Everyone, Thanks for your posts. Every year or two we see new, low cost competitors that come out of the woodwork for a little while. We are selling against these guys the same as you fight your low cost competitors. There are a few obvious detriments that seem to have stood the test of time. The revenue model can not possibly be profitable for 80% of your customers. Ridiculously low is exactly that, ridiculous and unsustainable. $500 worth of technical support will be used up mighty...

Re: Need help with Pay for Print Solution
Maybe I'm wrong about this but with the combined boards isn't there a chance John is a non-Ricoh-type person? I think Hotspot printers are a great option, other than the USB thing. Still trying to figure out how to handle the student walking in with just a USB drive. I guess he could email the doc to the printer from home .

Guys, Just an FYI. I am a Ricoh only dealer. Been on the hotel for awhile. We have looked at the Hotspot printers but it doesn't solve the walkup and print from a USB issue. John

I looked up your profile after JasonR's reply. Sorry for not remembering that "John" was you. I know it's your name but there are a lot of John's out there. Even if you eliminate all the John's that Dear John letters go to and all the outhouses by that name, that still leaves quite a few. Anyway, isn't it impossible to be able to print anything but PDF's from a thumb drive if it isn't plugged into a device with the software resident? For instance, how can an MFP print an Excel File without...

John, I don't know if this is still a live issue for you but I thought of you while reading up on the Fiery Controller Option for the C2800/C3300 and the C4000/C5000. In an FAQ Document under wireless printing options it states, "When printing from USB removeable media, the Fiery will print Postscript and PDF File formats. If the Fiery has internet access and the Native Document Conversion option (i.e. EFI PrintMe) then you can also print native Microsoft Office Documents from your USB..."

Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Copier Demo/Appointment
I got this from an email: Honestly nothing along the lines of a one liner come to me. However, when I was doing training on the 6755 once I botched the toner refilling process and got toner all over the room. Then as we were going to get some towels to wipe it down, I heard the maintenance guy fire up the vacuum and before I could run down the hall to stop him – the toner went straight through the filter and out the air vent … and ALL over the office. Thanks, John Pulley

Re: MP 6001 print driver issues
I have run into a similar situation like this where we did not have full functionality after installing the driver on a server and pushing it out to the clients. It is usually a problem when you are working with an ERP type program as you mention. The only way you can fix it is to have some type of script written to that program or load the driver on the workstations. We loaded it on the workstation but only had to do it on about 15. I will forward this to my IT support manager and he may be...

Re: Booklet printing with saddle stitch using Adobe Indesign CS5
BTW, John and I spoke on the phone, he wasn't referring to my "what's the error?" post Error: Undefined usually indicates data corruption or communication loss. It is not usually a true "Error". In a true PS error, there is a problem with the PS code, in an Undefined error, there is usually either no code or garbage.

Re: Booklet printing with saddle stitch using Adobe Indesign CS5
We solved the problem. We changed a setting within InDesign CS5 from "Binary" to "ASCII". I do not know why this works since that same setting in InDesign CS4 is set to "Binary" but it fixed the problem. Much thanks to JasonR for taking the time to call me and discuss the problem. Not alot of people would do that and I really appreciate it. I have attached a screen shot of the change from within InDesign CS5. Feel free to comment on why this would have made a difference as I have no clue. John

Re: Green not printing correctly on Ricoh MPC4500
John, There is a simple test to figure out if it is the MFD or the Print driver. Put an original on the glass and make a copy of an original that has the correct color green. If it copies OK the copier is OK, and you need to focus on the print controller or print driver. If it copies and the green is bad on the copy then focus on the Copier. If the copier is off on the color you won't get it right on the driver. You need a break fix tech to adjust or fix the copier. as a side note remember...
