Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Art, I agree. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was this may be Canon's answer to HP's PageWide A3s as well as Wide Format. Vince

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement
Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.

As a result, they have lost their investment incentive for toner-based product development. While they are aggressively investing in and developing products for production and industrial...

Memjet is also releasing the Vortex 4200, which is the same technology as the Oce and the Xerox. Also a little birdie told me that Canon is none too pleased with Oce and the development of the CW900. Canon might kill the release as it is going to compete directly with new Canon products being released soon.

Memjet v. HP: 3D Printing to Be Excused from the Courtroom?
