Re: Will outside Sales Rep's go away?
I'll chime in. Like TML I'm in my early 30's and have been selling copy hardware for nearly 10 years. I think good sales people as a whole are quickly becoming scarce. Millennials don't seem to like to interact with others if they don't have to and as most "print" decisions move to IT, online buying is already what they know. Overall it is a convenience factor, they don't have to submit a form to a website and wait a couple days for salesperson to try and up-sell them to an A3 MFP. They...

Re: IKON steals University of Kentucky MPS contract from Lexmark!
I'm curious to hear Lexmark's side of the story regarding what transpired. This has to hurt considering U of K is in their back yard. Our Lexmark DSM hadn't even heard about the loss when we talked to him yesterday.

Re: Canon shaking up the great white north
Yeti: I can understand the size thing and even though populations maybe the same, I'm sure there are many other factors also. However, I'm sure we can all agree that less will mean more when it comes to not having a direct branch in your back yard. I hoping that even as small as this deal is that the trend continues, it would get the industry back on track to more sustaniable levels, increase dealer business, increase profit for dealers.

Re: How True!
Born in '69, thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Never failed a grade, but failed a test, ate worms, walked in my friends house without knocking and they did the same at my house. What we did knock was each other out a couple of times, well not completely out. Still walk around with both eyes, but my cousin did lose an eye by putting a stick in it by himself. Broke bones falling out of trees in my neighbors yard and crashing my bike. My friend ran over my knee going about 25 miles per...

Re: Global buysCOMDOC...yes you heard correct!
I don't think it's appropriate to view the ComDoc acquisition as somehow counter to the spirit of the 3,000 jobs eliminated by Xerox. Xerox is prudent to eliminate positions that efficiency has made unnecessary, and to spend funds to grow the business by acquisition. I cut the grass in my front yard and water the vegetables in the back, but that is not an inconsistent strategy.

How Authenticity Can Maximize Your Prospecting Results
Authenticity is one of the biggest challenges for salespeople in a profession riddled with scrupulous, fake and disingenuous sales reps; that quite frankly many buyers despise them. However, authenticity separates sales reps from sales professionals and this is what buyers want! It may sound a bit touchy-feely but set aside some alone time, take a look inside yourself as sales is all about building credible, genuine and real relationships. In order to build relationships and change the way...

Lee Leads the Way at Lytham August 2, 2018 Australia’s Minjee Lee carded a superb seven under par 65 to claim a slender one-shot lead after the first round of the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes. The 22-year-old from Perth raced to the turn in three under par 32 and then fired three birdies and an eagle coming home to go into the second round one shot in front of Japan’s Mamiko Higa and two ahead of England’s Georgia Hall, Koreans Sung Hyun Park and Mi Hyang Lee,...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Six of Sales
Day Six and not much relief in site in New Jersey. We're still in lock down mode and now have the second largest number of infections in the US. There's a few cluster of infections in New Jersey that keep growing at an alarming rate. As of today there are no infections in the town where I live, however I don't think that will hold up much longer since more surrounding towns are reporting higher infections. Maybe the only savings grace is that we have the Ocean to east and the Bay to the...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Thirty-Six of Sales
Working from home is something I never liked doing. In the past I've worked from my office when there were snow days, bad weather or days leading up to and after a major holiday. The reason I never liked working from home is because I can get distracting with other items when my mind roams. Whether it's watching the news, tending to the yard or just fix something that I've been itching to fix for a long time. I guess it's my adult ADD. A few weeks ago I decided to write my self a little note...

Re: Final Five Predictions?
Perhaps its market space related to what you see? HP are winning a large number of Global MPS accounts from Xerox and in terms of capturing pages are way ahead of many of the major copier vendors. Their revenue is something like 192 Billion and Imaging & Printing is a full 3rd of that. Canon wouldn't have the cash. If anything you will see HP buy a major player, look at EDS, Indigo, Autonomy etc. They are going through the process of merging 2/3rd's of their company at the moment and...

Re: Final Five Predictions?
I would say it's the market place that I see, hey, they said that about Ricoh not being able to buy IKON and look what happened, maybe HP just sells the Imaging someone where down the road. The copier manufacturers need to start buying companies that that will give them a revenue stream. I'm of the opinion that manufacturers should start buying companies like dropbox, officedrop and box and then give away the free service with the MFP and then have a premium plan. They should also start...

Interesting reply to the same question from www.Copytechnet.com Copier service depends on who you are and where you are. In Afghanistan a while ago, a soldier told me of a tech junk yard. Since there where no techs there when they arrived they threw away everything that broke and just bought new stuff. He said the huge tech junk pile had 3 bulldozers pushing it around. _ side note_ in one of those Afghan junk yards after they got there, they found 2 old WWI tanks in excellent condition that...

Re: How you got started in the Industry?
Here's another, again back in the eighties. Got a call from a person that ran a business out of their home. I secured the demonstration for the date and time. Loaded the copier and my partner in the car and we were off! We got there and knocked on the door, then rang the doorbell, nothing.....figured we would go around back and knock on the backdoor. We opened the gate and found a woman nude sun bathing in the back yard! She saw us, screamed and went indoors...... we had the wrong address.

Pathway to Profit - color is the key!
Imagine all the information that can be quickly and clearly conveyed on building plans through the use of color. Different colors can be utilized to denote crucial building components. Colors can delineate revisions to original plans and can differentiate standard power lines from high-power lines. Historically, color couldn‘t be used to convey this critical information, because producing prints in color didn’t make sense from a cost or time angle. But that’s all changing, and PSPs are among...

As I attempted to open the front door this morning. I quickly realized that Otis, the neighbor’s bulldog, had decided to sleep in front of it. Otis likes to wander the neighborhood. He is more about what he can find than what he...

Sales Professionals Are Both Near And Far Sighted, Are You?
Why is it that many in sales move on from a potential opportunity if it doesn’t fit within the 30 to 60 day sales window? It’s this transactional mindset that’s killing the profession.
