Great to hear good things happening with Ricoh Production equipment. It's interesting to hear 13 x 25" paper?? Magnetics? No doubt the image quality is very good. We have several C651/C751's out and this year could include several more!

The user loves the fact that they can send their 11x17 spreads to the doc server and then configure the print settings at the copier. Just trying to accommodate the end user

Since they have the Fiery, once the job is printed it can be archived on the Fiery, all print settings will stay with that job. Make sure they have command work station installed on their PC and log into the fiery controller, right click on the print job and archive it.

You can still use the document server with the fiery using the fiery postscript driver or the fiery pcl driver. In the PS driver just click the job properties tab, check document server, and fill in a name or whatever you want.

I have had people want to do this too because it's easier to figure out. Also you can't change any job properties except the quantity when reprinting from the fiery.

You mean Batelli resigned? I sure wish they would get someone in there that was worth a damn. Previously Linda Allen and then Batelli. I am sure the Plotworks thing didn't have anything to do with it. J.

I hope Ricoh can bring back the magic they had when Linda ran the division. Plotworks has been a great product with great support once you learn the capabilities. It is an excellent PlotBase replacement product. I cannot think of a better time to be selling Wide Format- here in the SE, industry is back on it's feet and growing.

Plotworks is not Plotbase. Bring back Plotbase and scantools. At least we can still get Plotbase. I just wish they would not force Plotworks upon us without a choice.

Maxima1 Agreed about the production thing with wide format. But dude you're less than stellar at returning calls, and if you're referring to me digging for information for a blog, well, you're way off base. Plus how can you make that statement, if you don't call the person back to find out what they need? It's not only me, I've spoken to others and we all agreed you were not that good when it came to call backs. Now, this doesn't mean I don't like you, I do like you, but dude you gotta call...

Re: What Happened with the RICOH Pro L4000

You were atrocious at returning phone calls. And for you to state that you returned calls in a timely manner that you deemed important takes the cake and proves the point. Additionally, the sales reps in the field who religiously continue to sell the wide format product are the reason for any continued success in that area of Ricoh's product line. With the mandatory increase in price and a stale product lineup most days it is a difficult exercise.

I wish everyone that is selling wide format in Ricoh continued success. I know it is a tough endeavor and will continue to be considering the internal shift towards color and support for direct. If you required better support, I hope you receive it in the future. Good Luck.

Art, Great article I always used the purpose question when hiring. Ask the candidate what their purpose is, what would drive their core being to do what every it takes as long as it's legal, moral, and ethical to succeed in the career of sales? When people have the conviction for their purpose they will have the strength needed when the world of circumstances attempts to stop their momentum.

This is a tough business and finding young blood who are willing to gut it out is HARD. I've been in this industry for 5 years now and every year the thought of quitting enters my mind. The reasoning to stick around has to be more than just about money. For me, lasting 10 years in copier sales is the equivalent to getting my "black belt" in "the art of selling." I already have the confidence to feel like I can do anything -- real estate, start my own business, etc... I've gone through the...

Re: Difference between Ricoh Pro901s

customer is excited about the 5th station. I will enable him to generate additional sales and profits, however, will the increase in price far outweigh what he can make in profit? Case in point, if the system is $50K higher than the C751, that equals $1,000 more per month in lease price. I'm thinking this system is coming in at the MSRP of the 901's. Agree or disagree?

Re: Difference between Ricoh Pro901s

That makes sense to me since this is supposed to be the replacement for both the C751 and the C901s. Wait until the pricing for the C9100 comes out. That will have some shock factor I think.

Re: Difference between Ricoh Pro901s

Keep in mind the initial launch will be the printer only at 90ppm, this unit will have the new vacuum feed LCT which will add some cost, but feed heavy, coated and many other media MUCH better. The big question will be the cost of supplies for the 5th station and how to set up click charges or simply leave the customer to purchase these special supplies separate. Lets face it the Xerox 1000 is $250k, we will have a much lower price on these new units.

I spoke to Epson while at the BTA show on Orlando about this system. The System ships will all of that ink!! I did not even ask what the cost of the replacement cartridges were, I should have. Interesting to see if this system will pan out. Note the "buns" that are on each side of the system. On each side there are two huge bags of ink. Kinda reminds me of Princess Leia hair style!

Re: Epson launches $8000 colour printer

ty for this. Doing the math, black is .00865 and color is .005493 correct. Or are we adding 649 + 1,236 for a total of 1,885 and the dividing by 75,000 to get the cost per page. In that case the cpc would be .0251. tkern, have you sold any of these yet? Thoughts on the product?

Re: Epson launches $8000 colour printer

tkern ·
We are not a reseller for Epson at this time. We are merely testing the equipment and have been for some time. All they gave me is the "list price" for each bag of toner which is what I posted. I would assume CPC would be calculated the same way as a toner based machine. Based on my evaluation we would not be a reseller of the current machine and would wait until a page-wide array machine would come out to consider. The 24ppm is not accurate when printing high quality documents.

Wide Format Technology Update -The New Canon TM Series Wide Format Technical Series Having just completed one of our most successful quarters ever, I can confidently say that one of the main reasons for our sales success in Q4 was the new Canon TM Series printers and MFP systems. This series was introduced by Canon to replace the very successful 78x series which had anchored the Canon iPF wide format line for the last number of years. The 78x series was overdue to be replaced and the...
