I heard it through the grapevine a while back that RBS (at least in DFW) is no longer sending field reps out unless opportunities are above a certain value, meaning they are handling the sales process via telephone and email from start to finish. I see this as being the way things will be done in the future. From a business perspective, it makes sense if it allows dealers/direct to employ fewer sales people while generating close to the same revenue. If there is no value in a transaction...

Obviously, I am not in your office but I feel I can guess what the purpose of those signs are and I have a hard time believing that they are suggesting that open dialog with peers on subjects designed (for the most part) to improve our production and effectiveness is the type of dialog they seek to condemn. Nude photos or threats against the President maybe but P4P hotel? Surely they have bigger things to worry about.

Assuming we've used the 2 hours per machine connectivity time that we include for each install and that this isn't resolving issues that we created, this would be billable at an hourly rate in the neighborhood of $100 per hour. Depending on availability, the work would be done by either an SE, break/fix tech or a member of our Network Services team. We are an independent dealer in the Southwest that provides either hourly support, block time or full-on Managed Network Services. We can do the...

On average, business computers are replaced every 5 years. That means (on average) 20% of all computers are replaced each year. If you did NOT charge for reinstalling drivers, you would need to employ someone (or several someones) full-time to drive around reinstalling print drivers on every client's computer they just replaced. It seems those customers most unwilling to pay are also those most unable to accomplish simple tasks such as reinstalling a print driver on their own. Funny story:...

US Communities is a nation-wide (US) contract that Ricoh bid and won exclusive rights to. Any entity that is government (non-Federal) or non-profit can become a member of this buying group and as a member qualify for discounted pricing on a multitude of products including those sold by Ricoh. In a nutshell, we have a lower cost of goods if someone qualifies for US Communities pricing.

I’m surprised that there isn’t more leasing chatter because there seems to be a growing awareness of how most leasing companies make their money. The member who correctly analyzed Marlin’s profits was right on the mark. Not many leasing companies are public entities but when they are one can glean a lot of info from their 10Q’s and 10K’s. The leasing industry vigorously defends evergreen to its detriment. Whenever a state bill is introduced to restrict or outlaw evergreens they send someone...

The only way that makes sense is if your company has negotiated a better cost across the board and they obviously are not passing that lower cost down to the reps. Any prospect that belongs to the Chamber of Commerce automatically qualifies for SAS2 cost (plus Dealership markup of course) under the TABS program (in the USA). The savings don't even have to be passed on to the customer, the dealer just gets a lower cost of goods just by proving the customer is a Chamber member. Why would a...

We do our own, we have the power to negoiate with the leasing companies for the best rate. However the less knowledgable reps rely on our lease admiistrator. If that number of businesses includes resturants and retail, you have a tough row to hoe my friend. That stands for Business Equipment Quota Index which is a market quota index for B&W and Color MFP's, B&W and color printers, and Fax's. It makes it possible to compare different territories b county, metro...
