A few questions for the Canon experts! Can this system only scan to google docs? Can you get the bookletmaker on the 4225?

Hey Art, You can scan to Google Docs (now called Google Drive), Microsoft Exchange, Email, Shared Network, as per a regular imageRUNNER ADVANCE unit. Yes, you can get the booklet finisher on a 4225.

You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Hey Art, Good post. I didn't know too much about DocuShare so I'm glad I could read about it. I think Canon products deserve a mention. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE line allows you to directly scan to/print from Google Docs and Microsoft Exchange. This is a free feature. Larger imageRUNNER ADVANCE units allow you to scan directly into Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (again free), and if you add the Universal Send Advance/Security Feature Set you can create PDFs with OCR, annotations and...

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Ricoh will have their ICE version soon, will try to write more on that. I've found over time that most apps from the manufacturers are so so at best and developing a direct relationship with companies like UDOCX and Print Audit is more beneficial to the end user and to the dealer that is selling the solution. Thanx for the comment!!!

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.

Re: Canon C350iF Question about Cloud Enabled
Hey Art, I believe this refers to their "Google Docs" function which allows you to access your Google Drive. We have a 350iF in our showroom and I don't see any cloud-based applications embedded in the interface. Most of Canon's document management solutions are server-based.

Re: Canon C350iF Question about Cloud Enabled
Canon has just changed their cloud enabled service. For several years now, Canon allowed acces to Google Drive and Sharepoint by simply entering a PIN to enable. Two months ago Canon annouced that to broaden thier cloud connect offering, a web interface module would have to be purchased for each ADVANCED unit to connect, moving forward. Thus, the PIN no longer allows access from all the legfacy units in the field. Canon has offered free web interface kits to all units currently in the field.

Re: Konica Minolta Reinvents Office Print Technology with New IoT-Enabled bizhub® i-Series
This new copier line is one of the first to introduce a SSD 256 GB HDD as a standard feature. To date, I think all copier vendors have been using a 2.5" platter based HDD designed for laptop computers. I am wondering out loud the pros and cons of this choice. First off: 1). In all RFPs that I have seen the buyer is requesting a HDD and never a SSD. Konica Minolta is going to have to be constantly requesting amendments to RFPs. Maybe in the Konica Minolta new design there is the option to...

Re: Konica Minolta Reinvents Office Print Technology with New IoT-Enabled bizhub® i-Series
I would not be surprised to see Konica Minolta release a G model for Gov't bid business with a HDD installed. The USA GSA and DOD demands FIPPs certified drives these days and I do not think a SSD will cut it without a lengthy certification process. According to BLI, the First Copy Out times on the new series are up to 15% faster compared to their immediate predecessor models. These could be as much do to the 8 GB RAM and the Quad core processor as the SSD by itself. Many of the new features...
