Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Re: Five Reasons Why I'm Stoked About the New Ricoh SP8400DN Printer
I guess he was just referring to the Epson C869R (25 ppm). We kept asking questions about the 100 ppm unit and I lost track which unit this information applied to. Sorry for the confusion. We have a launch on the 11th and he promised more info on the 100 ppm at that time.

Just to be clear, it is an Epson Launch, not a launch of the 100 ppm. He just said that he would know more about the 100 ppm when he came on the 11th.

Re: Kyocera finally put's out a low volume A4 Color
Yes I have sold a couple of these. For the price these are fantastic. My service manager is impressed which is hard to do. Dual side scanning is a definite selling point. The cost per page is going to be higher of course. I would say in the .015 black and white and .11 color to be safe (depending on your market of course). Not as good as say the 6535 per say but the machine is less than half the cost. If the run more than a couple thousand a month I would move them up to the 6535cidn. Let me...

Wow the OKI wide formats! Haven't run across any of these yet. I do remember that Oki bought a minor wide format player a number of years ago. Ah, now I remember, it was the Seiko wide format devices. I need to brush up on this one for you. The first thing I would lead with is how long Ricoh has had the same digital print engine. I believe it to be one of the most reliable engines on the market today. The Ricoh MP W6700 and MP 7100 are identical except that you can add a dual roll feeder to...

I would agree Art. However, Sharp may have been too bullish regarding how the Frontier line would take off. Back in May Sharp canceled five of the Frontier line's 18 models due to market conditions. Sharp no longer plans to launch DX or MX versions of a planned 50-ppm monochrome MFP and also canceled 31-ppm and 40-ppm color workgroup printers. I don't believe you can use the Ratio Scantool without PB. Why can't you use the W5100 with the GW Scanner. I think this is all you need. Also, the WFCS is on the GSA Contract dated July 29, 2009. The product code is 100117FNG for $6,500. You need the "software key" that will allow you to utilize the scanner without having a Ricoh WF attached on the network. The product code is 100257FNG, $4,500 MSRP and the launch date should have been the end of October.

Interesting that Ricoh will keep the MP 2550B & MP 3350B in the product line active and only launch the new MFPs in SP and SPF configurations. Do you think that the B-suffix versions will phase out? Anyone know if this will also happen with the MP 4001 and Aficio MP 5001?

Re: Ricoh Introduces the Aficio MP 2851 and MP 3351 Digital Imaging Systems
They actually did away with offering spf models and the fax option just gets added to the base model, which includes s/p. GIntel's and mmelrod's comments regarding the changes are pretty much the case. Pricing is pretty much the same as the prior models configured as sp models. Yes, the same will hold true for the 40/50 series, not sure how soon to launch though. Attached is the SIG that details all 4 units.

I confirmed this w/ my Lexmark DSM, but he says that the re-branded models they're providing for Ricoh will not have the same solutions set as the Lexmark systems available through their BSD channel and that they should have a higher CPC. I'm not sure what the launch date is, because it was originally supposed to be first quarter of this year, but maybe my Lanier DSM meant Q1 of their Fiscal Year, which would mean after March.
