WOW! Some take ways from the article above: Sharp does not have core business that it can look to in the future 510 billion syndicated loan payment due March of 2016. That's almost 4.2 billion US dollars! Ouch! "The chances of banks calling the 103-year-old company’s loans are therefore low", seems to me like there are more cuts to come, more business units to sell. Banks accepted shares in the company earlier this year after it defaulted on debt payments

Very good points Art. The only print production (as some would call it) would be 85, 95, 110ppm. But these are more large departmental units. Mostly it is the 85ppm that is being pushed. There are only a few major players when you get higher than that. The very low end has always been a issue for them. The only item would be the AR-208 unit but that little Ricoh desktop will blow that away. Then there is the issue that some of these low end units can only be purchased from a distributor that...

According to your logic CDW which has an awesome AR/AP, Warehouse, logistics, order processing and true recurrent B2B customers could do it. Why don't they? Why doesn't everybody? Why not Sears or JC Penny? Because the businesses don't, won't and never will fit. Networks are like snowflakes each one different and individual, MFPS are like donuts each one the same with different frosting. Lets take GM and GMAC as the example instead of Ford. I was being facetious when I mentioned Sears. Just trying to make the point that its not that easy. MPS is easy. Cross train tech guys on HP and Lexmark, that already know imaging basics and turn them loose. Then your synergies take over. Your regular reps sell it and you don't need a stable full of specialists that are persnickety to say the least maintaining it.

I actually got a hold on their IT department. Turns out they currently have an FTP server set up. The marketing department uses it to send/receive to/from clients. He said he has a Sharp AR-M700n. After taking a quick look through the service manual it looks like scan to FTP is a standard feature. He mentioned the fact that the accounting department could probably use the feature as well sending/receiving files from their parent company in NY. I'm not going to make money off this advise but...

Until recently I was at a Sharp dealer. What models are of specifice interest? The AR-M350/450 weak in the paper capacity area, maximum of 4 500 sheet drawers or 2 500 and 1 2,000. The smaller FN6 finisher they can only sort letter, no letter R or legal, no mix size original sort with small finisher, do not have LAN-Fax Let me know what all you want to know.

We carry Sharp as well as Savin. I've never heard of a AR505. Our current Sharp Offering is the AR-M550, 620, 700. All from the same platform. The 550 outputs @ 55ppm, scans @ 65opm, and duplexes @ 76ppm. This is due to it's single pass doc feeder. Hope this helps.

operational status and reminding them to do daily chores. My wife would shoot me if I ever brought home a talking vacuum, I think I can remember that Sharp either had a talking copier or was planning to introduce one years ago, that went no where and the last thing I want is some plastic & tin headed device talking to me.

that is the way it is. You can not view PDF files in plotclient win. You can view them in plotbase. You could open in Reader and then print with the WP driver if you need to view before printing. You ar eright - time consuming if you have a batch job. In plotbase, right click on an entry, then click add. I THINK you can add PDF files then directly to Plotbase, and then they can be viewed.

ok, it's got some sizzle, but where is the beef? Practically no one copies anymore, thus the only use I can see is for scanning. I have five Alexa's at home, great for playing music and asking questions. I guess I could ask Alexa "scan documents to Rob", and with out noticing Alexa sends those documents to "Bob". I just don't see the applications, can someone enlighten me, maybe someone who was at the recent Sharp event?

How about Duplex Tray, Plain Paper, Cold Pressure Fusing, Staionary Platen, Push Button Color, Dry Toner, 20 Gin Sorter, SADF, Recirculating ADF Scan once, print many were the buzz words of the digital transition.

Was talking with larry kirsch today and he told me about the old "carrier sheets" that clients purchased. I then remembered "copier covers". In my Minolta days, all of the Minolta copiers came with a blue cover with a white Minolta logo.

Don't forget "Key Operator". Back in the day the highly trained main operator had a Key to lock \ unlock the Copier. Vince

We normally leave the default MR date at 1. However, we have seen collections all over the month and certainly outside of 3 days from the 1st. This seems to be creating a problem because we are getting the report each Monday and it was assumed that it was obtained that day...we are now trying to enforce that...

No money means no R&D. Sharp is getting destroyed in Canada. Since Konica Minolta purchased Pitney Bowes' imaging division (Sharp's largest dealer in Canada), they've been offering customers massive incentives to flip their Sharp gear into KM bizhubs. I think there's more value in Sharp's direct channel base customer list than the actual technology. I've always found the MX series to be lacking in quality and ease of use. Prices have come down on Tier 1 products which means Tier 2...

Is Sharp changing a good sign? If it doesn't is this bad, or does it mean it is continuing its commitment to our industry?
