Very curious if this will fly, I'm concerned over how long it took to launch and if there were issues of some sort. We are a Kyocera dealer so we will be hearing more about it soon.

The vacuum lct looks like the Ricoh LCT. Any chance Ricoh will rebrand this like Kyocera did to the 8200 series?

Re: Kyocera finally launches color inkjet PPS
Yup, agreed I heard from Kyocera peeps that many of the accessories are the same as the Ricoh accessories. I'd love to see the print quality on this printer. Kyocera send me some print samples!

Re: Need HELP! Kyocera Color A3 question
Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. If color quality is important to the customer it will be a win. Another point is showing them you get what you pay for, meaning 3 tier color is what they have...

Copystar/Kyocera 7052ci and 8052ci are still current models as the 7353ci and 8353ci were just released. same goes the the 70/80ppm mono's. not sure when they will get discontinued but we can still order them as of today.

Re: Quality Digital Office Technology
Art, we've got a rep that covers York / Gettysburg and he confirmed this. He said he heard it went down ~ 6 months ago and they started reaching out to clients towards the end of 2019 to let them know. Gonna be a big change as Quality had a lot of loyal clients (also were giving away service at rates like .003 & .032- > I've gotta imagine that'll change quickly)

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
I suspect that you are retired from the copier industry and do not have to earn commissions each month to support your family. As an active sales rep, I do not have the luxury of hoping that things will run their course when I have budgets and quotas to meet each month. The people who are going to be adversely effected will be US copier sales reps with a higher cost of goods.

Re: Copier Parts & Accessories China Tariff Starts in 9 Working Days
Nope...not retired and I do have to live from the commissions I earn from personal sales. I just don't believe that everything has to revolve around what is best for me. That being said, I am under the assumption that all copier manufacturers will be effected pretty much equally so I don't personally expect to be adversely effected.

Re: Kyocera finally put's out a low volume A4 Color
Yes I have sold a couple of these. For the price these are fantastic. My service manager is impressed which is hard to do. Dual side scanning is a definite selling point. The cost per page is going to be higher of course. I would say in the .015 black and white and .11 color to be safe (depending on your market of course). Not as good as say the 6535 per say but the machine is less than half the cost. If the run more than a couple thousand a month I would move them up to the 6535cidn. Let me...

Re: A Halloween Tale of an A3 Copier’s Death
What is even more scary is how your commission cheques will fall in $ value if you only sell A4 copiers. The copier/printer market is not getting any larger and if a commission sales rep focuses on selling lower $ value A4 boxes, they are going to have to make a lot more sales calls and sell a lot more boxes to earn the same money.

Re: Calculating Lease Costs and Effective Purchase Price W/O interest
You're getting good answers, but sometimes the third of fourth approach to answering the question helps. Not to imply that the previous answers are incorrect or incomplete. 1. "Lease Rate" is a convenience, given to you so that you can multiply your selling price by a number and end up with a payment acceptable to the lessor. 2. The "Short answer" from your leasing company is "We'll do that deal for 36 months at 0.0302". 3. The "Long answer" which they will seldom give you is: - We believe...

In he end my RFQ deadline was Dec 30, I decided Good Lad gave me the best advise and I pitched eCopy ShareScan. There were so many technologies going on in this quote that eCopy was the only solution that brought it all under one vendor besides my copiers. To paraphrase, "keep it simpler, stupid." The challenge wll be to get all of my technical support staff trained if successful. Also, one good comment, to successfully sell big Solution Sales you have to earn your stripes with some smaller...

Re: Are Step Leases ethical business practise?
Depending on the Lease vendor, they may provide cleverly designed Lease documents, with two payments streams on the document. The bad copier sales person fills in the agreed Payment #1 amount with the customer and leaves the Payment #2 line blank. The customer does not even see Payment #2 because it is blank. The customner signs the lease. Back at the office, this same sales person fills in Payment #2 with the Step Lease amount, and submits it to the Leasing company. Working with a less than...

Re: Time in business requirements
I can agree that they leasing companies (and all lenders) acted foolishly in the past. Now the banks are acting like banks. That's not bad, though it may make it tougher to provide people with equipment you, I and they all know they have no business leasing. [If you were over 2 years in biz, 90% of the time no PG was required.] And now we know that two years in business is not adequate assurance of the company's ability to make the payments, so more assurance is required in the form of a PG.

Re: Unfair practice of providing startup supplies on state and federal contracts
Good point. But I do not think that Ricoh or any manufacturer wants to lose out up front. They want that money just like anyone else. So they can include the consumables but then they just raise cost to the dealer. In my opinion gov't contracts and bids are a waste of time. You work so hard to earn the business and there are 10 people bidding. Then you have provided the best long term solution that is proven to save them the most over 5 years. But guess what? The gov't entity is 7 million in...

Re: How do you feel about the industry?
I feel it is getting increasingly difficult to attract quality sales and service people to this industry. It is hard for a new sales rep to earn a decent income and to find a service tech who is good at electro-mechanical break fix. Society does not seem to be producing people who want to be in outside sales or think that they can earn an income other than by sitting behind a computer.

Don't let out that dirty little secret everyone will want a raise! Really that is the truth. We sometimes think everyone would love to sell copiers for a living but in reality it is very very difficult and difficult to find people that can do it well. I think it is easy (30 years of thinking a warped way) but when you get a newbie to the industry they think you are "insane" when you tell them to forget everything they learned in marketing class, or speaking "Portuguese" when you try to...

I know it is difficult to see it yet, but your employer has done you a big favor. Existence in that environment would have been miserable. I agree with much of what Mr. Shaw says. A previous employer who initiated your termination will not be allowed to restrict your ability to earn a living in your chosen field. If you had left him, a non-compete becomes more difficult to beat. However, in your case, even if you had quit, you would have grounds based on the change in payplan, especially if...

Re: How to Win Against Direct"
I do believe that classy Independent Dealers can (and do) win against due to providing excellent Service. That is because IKON and RBS fall short in this area. Yet, the game board is now changing, due to Ricoh's strict focus on supporting IKON and RBS at the expense of Dealers (yes with better 'pricing') and economic factors today, more and more business will erode for Independents. Meaning, at the very least, Independents will need to drop their pants and earn far less profit, far less to...
