Re: Sharp bond risk jumps as losses over 4½ years top $10 billion
WOW! Some take ways from the article above: Sharp does not have core business that it can look to in the future 510 billion syndicated loan payment due March of 2016. That's almost 4.2 billion US dollars! Ouch! "The chances of banks calling the 103-year-old company’s loans are therefore low", seems to me like there are more cuts to come, more business units to sell. Banks accepted shares in the company earlier this year after it defaulted on debt payments

Surely eventually the ship is sunk. I still see SAMSUNG as a buyer at some point even though the Japanese govt won't have it.....for now.

Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Art, I think Samsung needed to do this test to shut the mouths of the critics. Now anyone who wonders or asks if the Samsungs are reliable will get a link to this test. My Service guys tell me that the Samsungs have been working well! And the new MX series with the Android (OS) Tablet has been very cool. That wish list item that you asked Ricoh for has already been delivered by Samsung! I have just worked with a 3rd party tech company to get the first non-Samsung Android App ported to the...

Re: Samsung Copier Million Page Test "A Tree Massacre"
Seems my Blog about the million page test was not that well received with Samsung. They complained to ENX Magazine who then pulled the blog off their site. Whatever happened to FREE Press? They were not happy that I pointed out that they used "x" amount of tree's for a 1980's type test! Since Samsung spends money with ENX, ENX pulled the blogs and is not posting any of my latest stuff. You know what, as far as I'm concerned we here this finance stuff about Sharp, Toshiba and none of the...

Re: Color MFP Trends, Tactics, etc
I would agree Art. However, Sharp may have been too bullish regarding how the Frontier line would take off. Back in May Sharp canceled five of the Frontier line's 18 models due to market conditions. Sharp no longer plans to launch DX or MX versions of a planned 50-ppm monochrome MFP and also canceled 31-ppm and 40-ppm color workgroup printers. I'm sure the economy didn't help, but it will be interesting to see how A4 MFPs fare in the 45ppm+ speed bands...

Re: Sharp to Introduce Five New Copier/Printer Models, Including a Digital Full-Color MFP
Thanks for the heads up, I dont think these models will be introduced in the US though, I hope I'm wrong, the A4 models just introduced, MX-C401SC and MX-B401SC are really feature rich and impressive in the way you can feed plastic ID cards through the feeder and have both sides scanned. Also the fact that the B&W version has a 25% less CPC cost will make these units very hard to beat!

Re: JOINT STATEMENT BY SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION AND EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
These are all very interesting comments. Not sure if anyone has seen the videos and new interface on the color systems. Watch those videos on youtube and see yes that is a cool interface but is it really practical? From talking with others this is a very confusing non-friendly user interface compared to the previous MX color series. I think this is going to hurt this color series in the long run. The real challenge comes when there are MX units in an account then add this Aries series. Or...

Braxtoq....those features may blow the end user away but when they are rarely used what good are they. In a demo that can be impressive just like the retractable keyboard. However 9 times our of 10 those features although are very cool will never be used. These units are a tough sell compared to the previous MX color series. There are many that are intimidated by this interface no matter how easy it for them to use. As you know every manufacturer has their bells & whistles that are...

Re: Got A Situation! What would ou do?
I'm working hard to fix this situation. They do not want another Toshiba and for my second option Samsung just shot me down. They wont sell me the new A3 Black and White. I've been selling their stuff for 6 years and this is the thanks I get. Say I'm to small. Any input on the Sharp MX-M453 or eed a suggestion on a 45 ppm print black and white volume about 8k a month need ledger Sorry. Once I get outside my norm everything becomes a blur Appreciate all your expertise

Re: Got A Situation! What would ou do?
What are your options that you have to chose from? What brands are you authorized to service? Are you an independent dealer? How would you get a Sharp if you are not a dealer? Can you service Sharp MX series? At 8K per month they really don't need a 45ppm unit. That would be 25-35ppm range.

I don't think that anyone who bought an Edgeline, or further back the HP rebadged Konica MFD's, will be keen to give HP another go.

My wife would shoot me if I ever brought home a talking vacuum, I think I can remember that Sharp either had a talking copier or was planning to introduce one years ago, that went no where and the last thing I want is some plastic & tin headed device talking to me.

Re: Sharp Becomes First MFP Provider Working With Alexa for Business to Enhance Technology in the Workplace
ok, it's got some sizzle, but where is the beef? Practically no one copies anymore, thus the only use I can see is for scanning. I have five Alexa's at home, great for playing music and asking questions. I guess I could ask Alexa "scan documents to Rob", and with out noticing Alexa sends those documents to "Bob". I just don't see the applications, can someone enlighten me, maybe someone who was at the recent Sharp event?

Was talking with larry kirsch today and he told me about the old "carrier sheets" that clients purchased. I then remembered "copier covers". In my Minolta days, all of the Minolta copiers came with a blue cover with a white Minolta logo.

Re: Competitive Info needed Sharp MX364N
On the MX-M364N the Reversing Single Pass Feeder is a single pass for simplex only. However, on the MX-M365N it does have the Duplex Single Pass Feeder for duplex in one pass. The older Sharp models weren't listed this way. I guess they got creative on their marketing.

Re: Competitive Info needed Sharp MX364N
Moody is correct. The brochure lists the specs for both products. This can be somewhat confusing. The MX-M364N will require two passes to duplex.

Re: Sharp CEO States "I believe it is my responsibilty to...)
No money means no R&D. Sharp is getting destroyed in Canada. Since Konica Minolta purchased Pitney Bowes' imaging division (Sharp's largest dealer in Canada), they've been offering customers massive incentives to flip their Sharp gear into KM bizhubs. I think there's more value in Sharp's direct channel base customer list than the actual technology. I've always found the MX series to be lacking in quality and ease of use. Prices have come down on Tier 1 products which means Tier 2...

Re: Sharp "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"
Art, I'm in Japan this week meeting with key clients and have asked this question to several. In typical fashion, no one wants to speculate on what will happen. Is this a good or bad sign? Is Sharp changing a good sign? If it doesn't is this bad, or does it mean it is continuing its commitment to our industry? Since the year 2000, 50% of Fortune 500 companies have fallen from its ranks--no longer considered leaders (by at least that standard). This is most often due leadership...
