Question on this - do any of you that sell Lexmark get questioned about the ultimate ownership of the Chinese government? If so, what is it that you say to get them comfortable that they're safe?

We are still a dealer but we have not sold a LEXMARK in quite a while. They eliminated the MPS Elite program we were own, or at the least removed us from that program. I never had anyone ask about the security due to the Chinese ownership but it’s a great point. Honestly, I have found their support, to us at least, to be very subpar. Our support from brother has been phenomenal the last 2 years. Most of my printer clients are replacing the lexmarks with the brothers as fast as they can.

Taking a deeper dive, knowing that the U.S. DoD Inspector General recommends adding Lexmark to the banned list with Huawei (Lenovo and GoPro also), does that make you uncomfortable when pitching a Lexmark unit?

Imagine a CMYK copier, except remove the CMY toner and developer and insert a new Erasable Blue (EB) toner and developer. Modify the copier so that when the Erasable blue toner passes back through the heat of the fuser, it de-colorizes the blue to white. A new rules based print driver can automatically makes software apps like emails auto print in blue plus provide a new counter to show how much paper, CO2 and money you saved. The previous generation product appealed to too small a section...

Yes, Ricoh (with IKON, RBS, SAVIN, LANIER) still holds the #1 position as of end 2010 Q2 (April through end June 2010). Yet, they are down -18% (in terms of Units) as compared to the same time period last year (2009).

Toshiba recently revealed that it actually profited from the strengthening of the yen that took place during the first half of its fiscal year through September. The company has apparently moved much of its manufacturing and product sourcing outside of Japan since 2009, resulting in the yen's rise positively impacting its earnings. Toshiba made 48 percent of its products in Japan between April to September 2009 and bought 45 percent of its components from Japan-based suppliers. By the same...

To be technical, Windows 8 introduces SMB V3, improving security features among other things. http://www.windowsecurity.com/...SMB-Connections.html Although supposedly backwards compatible with SMB V1 & V2 found on most current MFPs, the transition is not quite as seamless as Microsoft hoped for. SMB V3 will likely require firmware updates from all of the copier manufacturers to be compatible. I have no idea on the Universal Print drivers until you try them. It is only a short time...

We are a Konica and Ricoh dealer and I am familiar with both products (moreso the Ricoh). They are both good machines, but the 1060 software is far better in most respects: Scanning Konica scans to the hard drive on the controller and then you retrieve it from the "box" with a piece of software called ScanTrip, 25.00 per seat. You have to know which box to pull the scan from. It's what I would call pull scanning. ScanTrip can be set to poll the machine periodicaly to see if there is anything...

You must add 128 MB. The mainframe comes with 128, but the Printer Kit OR the Printer/Scanner Kit require 256. That means we must add 128. Otherwise all else is fine with what you put in your topic. Make sure you are using DMAP dated 8 April 2003 or later, the Printer/Scanner Kit cost came down to the cost of the Printer Only Kit and the Printer only kit is no longer listed.

RUMOR has it that Ricoh will change the name of the company to IKON Americas Corporation, effective August 1, 2009. RBS will fold into IKON, with several offices closing across the country. This new IKON direct organization will be the only distribution channel selling 'Ricoh' brand products, while the remaining "strong" Independent Dealers can sell Lanier and Savin (for a limited time) at an approximate 20% higher price than IKON will enjoy.
