Re: All Ricoh A4 devices = no stapler
Hi Art, We once developed this for the IDEAL 8520 stapler but we can do that for every stapler of course.

That's correct, it was discontinued in lieu of the new MP 501SP & 601SP

If it helps, Canon A4 staplers are usually around $900 whole sale.

Re: All Ricoh A4 devices = no stapler
The 501/601 are based on a Kyocera MFP without a stapler, so Ricoh didn't have much of a choice on that one. Agreed that its a disadvantage against other A4s, so with Ricoh you will either have to sell the C401 with a finisher or an A3 MFP for the foreseeable future.

$650 on a B&W A4, $615 on a color A4. Ricoh is missing the boat one this one...

Re: Canon Production Question
While our Canon dealership sells neither product line, I'm pretty sure they're open to dealers. Canon's website shows a few dealers in our area for both the varioprint and imagepress models you listed.

Re: Are Copier Sales Reps Asking the Right Questions
As you said, this blog wasn't meant to cover all the bases but your comments about brand loyalty and brand/service provider loyalty are only true if the decision maker has been the same for each decision. If you aren't talking to the owner, you may be talking to a totally different person than the one that made past decisions. You need to know that before you decide whether to pack your bags and walk away. Also, in a leased equipment environment, the decision to stay with the same brand and...

Re: Canon's new 75PPM A4 MFP series
CPP is very low for the AIO unit. This is a new engine, so overall service costs are estimates only at this time. Canon looks to have a winning combo on their hands. Where's Ricoh and KM in this segment?

Re: Canon's new 75PPM A4 MFP series
Ricoh has four black devices and none of them staple. MP 501SPF (52 ppm ) and the MP 601SPF which I believe is 62 ppm)

As much as I am not a fan of A4, but realizing it’s our necessary evil, I hope they do. The A4 has for the most part killed it for us as sales people. We have to sell many more units to make the same revenue....revenue, I say....profit margin is good for the most part, but we still have to sell more united to keep everyone happy. Was the worst thing a manufacturer could do in my opinion.

This looks like it is just the Canon version of the HP engine they OEM for them so yes I would expect to see a colour one HP deployed thousands of M630’s (predecessor) at one of my customers doing big volumes - pretty robust Will be interesting to see how much longer the HP relationship with canon goes on..

John, I just searched the CANON KB and don't see anything on this code. Are you sure that is the error code that the Canon is showing? Have you called ITC for support? They have been great to work with on technical issues. Vince

Re: Canon imageRUNNER Advance C3535i questions
when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
On all current Toshiba copiers with HDD, 128 Bit AES Encryption is offered standard but it has to be turned on by a Service Code. The cost is that it somewhat slows down the copier's performance. In my experience, 128 Bit is rarely turned on when I inform the customer of the trade off. Maybe I should just turn it on in the future and not tell the customer. The optional DataOverwrite kit is very rarely purchased by small Commerical customers but often by Gov't & Schools.

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Simply handing over a copier's HDD removes the OS within the copier making it unuseable. Plus there is some labour to remove the HDD and reload the firmware onto it. At least $200 - $300.00 total vs turning on 128 Bit AES Encryption at the start - Free. Going forward, we format the HDD on all of our own brand copiers we remove. For competitors brands, where we do not know the Service Codes, we can only inform the customer of the risks.

Re: Toner Save Software to Get MPS CPCs Down
heard of it...Xerox, partners...but I have not actually seen it... NewfieldIT out of London developed a software...I am still looking at it. But, why anyone wouldn't simply install it as part of their overall MpS is beyond me, if it works. Oh, and no need to inform the client - it should reduce the provider's cost...not the client's. Nothing wrong with that either... g

Re: HDD Wiping/Reformatting
Jason, You are absolutely right, it isn't the responsibility of the new dealer to wipe the Hard Drives of the old Dealers MFDs. And if it is a line that your dealership does not carry you couldn't restore it to working order after you did wipe the Hard Drives. Which would cause them more problems and cost if they return it ti their leasing company in non working order. But if you want to add value you do have the discussion with the new client and inform and advise them of their options. I...

Re: Over Holding On MFP Lease Costs Unnecessary Dollars
I think front line service techs would like nothing more than to get the "old junk" out of the field. It is probably the number crunchers that aren't willing to shut these people off because of the lost revenue. Last summer all the sales reps were given a list of old equipment still on contract and told to inform the customer that their agreements would soon be cancelled which we did. Then the company decided to look at the bottom line and recanted. Now us salereps all look like smucks just...

Re: Panasonic Dumps Dealers, Keeps all but a handful!!!!
What is the difference between Authorized Dealer and Authorized Reseller? Will you have to go through Nuworld for parts or will you still be able to get parts direct from Panasonic? Will you still have access to the full line? I dunno. Nobody at Panasonic would return my calls yesterday (surprise, surprise). If I don't get to keep my parts account I'm going to be pissed. I really dislike NuWorld; they've screwed up almost every order I've placed with them, and their pricing seems to be based...

Re: Competitive Info needed Lexmark XM1145
The XM1145 is a shade over $0.02 per click in a m/a contract. If the customer is doing over 2,500 clicks per month the machine has no chance in a competitive deal unless the consumer buys non-OEM toner and just does a parts and labor only service contract w/out consumables for about $200/yr. Customer is rarely educated enough to know to do this and a salesperson moving such a small box rarely cares enough to inform the customer on how to make the XM1150 a cost-effective option.

Re: Leads, Do you get them?
I don't work for a dealer but I am convinced that unless the deals are in a real remote area, 98% of the leads are going to the direct ops.
