John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Re: Ricoh Launches New Aficio MFPs With App2Me Solution
Without limits? If you sold a 171 and the customer had 50 workstations, you would install the print driver (and then the fax driver) on every one of them? My suggestion is to incorporate a reasonable limit to the installs. The customer needs to learn how to install the driver anyway since I doubt you would come back out in six months to install a driver on their new PC. Five workstations per device seems to work well. That's enough to make sure everything is working and train the customer...

Re: Ricoh Launches New Aficio MFPs With App2Me Solution
We normally tell them 2 hour limit. I can't imagine a scenario with 50 workstations printing to a 171 but in that case we will install the drivers on server and share it out. We have very few installs that exceed 2 hours.

Re: Canon eCopy
I just got a training overview on ecopy today, what's your question? Main benefits I see to it are... It uses authentication, It can communicate directly with the exchange server and pull the global address book, no limit on user names. The i models do not support authentication. and eCopy is a little more then $1,000 more than an i model.

Re: Q & A for Minolta Di3510f
Question With the Di3510-2010 series, is it possible to scan a document that is greater than 80 pages as a single file? Answer No, it is not. Since the AFR-19 can handle a maximum number of 80 sheets, any pages that exceed this limit will be scanned as a separate file. It is not possible to combine two independent scan jobs into one scan file.

Re: Need Input for Color Deal
Well, unfortunately I do not get to present those ideas to this customer. They have already implemented a Pitney Bowes mail-merge system that is set up to send out renewal notices (not invoices) to 67 newspaper customers around the country. They aleady have in place a folder/envelope stuffer/sealer in place to take the printed notices. I approached them with the idea of getting the notices pre-printed for greater savings, but the response was, the system was already in place to print. They...

Yes, it installs on each machine. You will need a Java card installed on each copier before you can install it. It is not that hard to install, although one issue we ran into was that the latest version of the software seemed to not install, we had to drop back one version, then it worked just fine. As far as how it works, from the customer perspective, they get to the copier and it asks them for a code and they enter it and then can use the copier as normal. One limitation of the User...

Adding on some usability points: I absolutely hate Konica's itty-bitty touch screen for inputting addresses, file names, etc. The "keys" are tiny, and there is a limit to file name sizes. Another point I harp on again and again: the Ricoh RPCS driver. Can't be said enough how great that driver is. Makes doing booklets, "magazines," etc. a snap.

jayjay thanx for the reply, there's much to be said about the difference in markets that we server. I'm competed with dealers owners also, and have lost 90% of those deals also. Just like your dealership is great with refurbs, we really don't get into those. I focus on wide format to limit my competition, most times that puts me in the driver seat. Maybe just focusing on pre-owned, refurbished is the way to go. Just and idea.

Re: What would your service department do?
We do a fair amount of preowned equipment. We also cherry pick our own lease returns and a few brokers here and there. We typically do not put a machine back out in the field with more than 200,000 on it. Bigger machines maybe 300K but thats about our limit.
