Avoid Insulting the Customer Obvious, right? Well, people do it without even realizing by using comments like "did you understand that?" and "are you following what I'm saying?". This automatically shrinks the customers' intelligence and ability to catch on. It is down to your own ability to make the customer understand and therefore if you feel the customer is failing to do so, use comments such as "did I explain that clearly" and so on. I arrived back in town from Aruba late on Monday. Yup, I took a vacation and rarely accessed the internet! Yay for me. To say the least I came back to state that is in pure panic mode with corona virus. Tuesday was not so bad as four opportunities went HOT. Did the work that I had to and subsequent days produced almost nothing, no email responses, no phone call responses and in four days I was only able to set four meetings for next week. Starting on Monday I'll be sending ZOOM requests for...

This Week in the Copier Industry Five Years Ago Third Week of March in 2017 There was quite a bit of chatter this week about leasing at the tactic that dealers will use. Keep in mind it's not the leasing companies that drive the Evergreen clause, nor the small window of time for notification, and the annual escalator increase for the hardware and the service. These are all dealer demands with their private able leases. Which brings me to "if a dealer was so confident with their support and...

This Week in the Copier Industry Five Years Ago Third Week of April 2017 Greg and I had a chat late on Good Friday. We spoke about how the industry has changed, the amount of good people (including sales reps) that we've lost in the last two plus years. It was agreed that our future is not about copier and print devices but more about how we can learn more about our clients and ask business questions that will allow us to understand what's good and bad about their business. More often than...

This Week in the Copier Industry Five Years Ago Third Week of November 2017 sponsored by The great thing about endings is that you can always re-write your ending. Of course having the ability to re-write the endings also means that you need to the time to put that ending together. No time equals no re-writes, no re-writes means you're doomed. This Week in Copiers Five Years Ago Second Week of May 2018 Real Copier Sales Here is something I don't see others do very often...when going in early to renew a 36 month lease, I don't don't "eat" the buy-out, I extend the term. If I'm going to renew at 34 months, I write the renewal for 38 months. I explain to the DM that it ends up being the same 72 months, they just get the benefit of the lower renewal payment a couple months more. The extra funding from a 38 month rate doesn't cover all...
