Re: One BIG Take Away from the Top 100 Summit
Art, Great article I always used the purpose question when hiring. Ask the candidate what their purpose is, what would drive their core being to do what every it takes as long as it's legal, moral, and ethical to succeed in the career of sales? When people have the conviction for their purpose they will have the strength needed when the world of circumstances attempts to stop their momentum.

Re: One BIG Take Away from the Top 100 Summit
This is a tough business and finding young blood who are willing to gut it out is HARD. I've been in this industry for 5 years now and every year the thought of quitting enters my mind. The reasoning to stick around has to be more than just about money. For me, lasting 10 years in copier sales is the equivalent to getting my "black belt" in "the art of selling." I already have the confidence to feel like I can do anything -- real estate, start my own business, etc... I've gone through the...

57 Days of Selling "Day 40"
After many days of fighting a cold/sinus/headache thing, I finally succumbed to having to stay home. I'm hoping that I'll feel somewhat better tomorrow since I have an appointment with one of the rookies. Really looking forward to it. What I did have the energy for, was to work from the home office today. I hardly made any calls today, and most of my work was done via emails. Never the less, I was able to schedule two appointments, create an opportunity for $10K (2017) , and move two smaller...

One BIG Take Away from the Top 100 Summit
Geesh, I grabbed and extra day to stay in San Diego after the Print Audit Top 100 Summit, come home on Sunday to find that Larry Levine, and Darrell Amy already wrote about the happenings of the event (dagnabit). Can't wait until next year's event! During one of the open discussions, that's where our moderator threw out questions to the attendees, the first question posed was, "what is your biggest challenge to your business?" First Business Challenge Now, I was thinking along the lines of...

The Three D's of Selling
During the last ten years, I've been delighted to help rookies/newbie’s or whatever you'd like to call new people that are breaking into Managed IT, Copiers and Managed Print Service industry. I'm not a manager or owner (was an owner once) of a dealership; I work down the street accounts (SMB) and love what I do! I enjoy helping new sales people and that's probably because I had no help when I started in sales some 38 years ago. It was nine years ago that I encountered my first sales manager...

Sales Desire, Born With It or With Out It
This evening I had a call with one my friends in the office equipment industry. Our chat was to introduce one on our long time members via a Better Call Art video. We'll have that video ready in a few days. The last question I asked inspired me to write this blog today for everyone. I just love the word "inspired" and I try to capture that everyday. How Can I Help You Of course our topics were all over the place, however I want to focus one of the questions that I always ask and that is "how...
