Re: "Green Jobs"

JasonR ·
Cold (or hot) weather in one location (or country) is not indicative of a "Global" temperature change. I agree, our grandchildren will probably be the ones to learn the truth about this issue. I sincerely hope that you are right and either nothing is happening or we can't do anything about what is happening. If however, 95% of all scientists are correct and something is happening AND it's caused by man AND possibly mitigated or reversible by our actions, I want to tell my grandchildren I did...

All good points. Yes, the weather is different today than yesterday. And we can extrapolate that to 100 years ago and 100 years from now. Human activity? Oh, our ego's would drive us to think we make a SIGNIFICANT impact. And science is asleep, replaced with faith labelled as "consensus". But I don't think many people who have seen a forest fire or volcano actually BELIEVE we impact the climate much more than the proverbial butterfly wings. Unrelated, I think MLB should handle World...

Re: Gas Price Check

Jay ·
The oil business is very complex. It's much like the stock market. Let's say you own a gas station. You buy a 1000 gallons of gas at $1.00 per gallon. You sell it for $2.00 per gallon. Your make a nice profit BUT, you call to order another 1000 gallons and it's now selling for $2.00 per gallon. There go your profits. You must raise your price to meet the new wholesale price. While your $2.00 gas is in the ground the price drops to $1.00 per gallon. What do you do? Refinery issues, pipline...

Re: "what is the interest rate"

merlin ·
I ask a Banker at one time, and figured it out to about 14%. If you assume one thing, that is the leasing companies want the same interest rate weather it FMV,10% or $1.00 buyout. Using DLL rate, the interest rate is about 13.60%. That's taking a fund rate of $ 5,000 over a 3 year period. The reason most people lease is base on there accounting procedures and how they write things off for taxes. Remember one thing, most people are payment buyers. If there payment is less than what they...

What Do You Do To Make Calling Fun?

Always have a plan, I will review my CRM and plan 20-25 stop ins (cold calls) in advance. These are usually accounts where I can't get any traction via phone or email. Group them by their location. I start with going to the furthest location first and then make my way back the office. Know what types of accounts that you are calling on and have some type of vertical hand out. Make it fun! The law of commonality will work well, what will everyone have in common that day? The weather is a good...

I understand both sides of this argument, but I’m having trouble adopting either side as my definitive stance. I agree with Jim’s assertion that the entity taking the risk (the leasing company) has the right to set the rules that affect their investment. However, it’s hard to argue with Art’s contention that says, “How can I build a relationship with a leasing company when I’m only offering them the “dirty business” that my primary leasing company won’t even look at?” Remember how we all...

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04...ather-poll-says.html A poll released in April 2012 shows that a large majority of Americans believe that this year’s unusually warm winter, last year’s blistering summer and some other weather disasters were probably made worse by global warming. And by a 2-to-1 margin, the public says the weather has been getting worse, rather than better, in recent years. A large majority of climate scientists say the climate is shifting in ways that could cause serious...

I agree with Old Glory. First on the US debt and deficit spending has to be dealt with, we cannot continue down the path we are on. While we need to pay our current debts we should look at cutting spending. Everything must be cut – social spending, defense, foreign aid, everything. I don’t understand why we are sending billions to other countries for foreign aid when we cannot pay our bills. It is like someone not being able to pay their mortgage but using their credit card to give money to...

The theme I was trying to convey was that the polling indicates between 2009 and 2012, Americans attitude towards global warming is that it is not some fuzzy far off threat but real and much closer to home. Basically, the prevailing research indicates that while 67% of Americans believe that global warming is a growing problem, 98% of politicians avoid the issue. "Global warming skepticism is still alive and well, thanks to an effective campaign of public disinformation — one heavily...

So huricanes and droughts are both the result of global warming? It appears that all significant weather activity, droughts and floods, heat and even cold spells are blamed on global warming. But only the skeptics are subject to "disinformation"?

Re: USA Presidential Poll

No one is saying hurricanes and droughts are the exclusive result of global warming only that the increasing frequency and severity of such weather events appear to be related. 2/3rds of Americans somewhat to strongly believe global warming is effecting the weather in the USA. Skeptics are always free to voice their opinion and can believe what they wish. Just like the tobacco industry wants people to believe that smoking does not cause cancer.

Art/Jrlz - go back and read what Matthews said b/c you missed his point. This is all so very simple and easy to solve . . . If you don't like the LEFT leaning media OR the RIGHT leaning media don't watch them (I don't)and encourage others to do the same. If you don't believe that Climate Change is man-made and real, so be it - that's easy, now let's see what we can do about the effects of what the routine weather cycles are doing to our world since it's not man-made. If we don't like what...

We tried several things including a monthly surcharge with every invoice and raising our monthly minimum charge. Both generated phone calls from unhappy customers. We finally just decided to raise the CPC on every customer we could and cover that way. My opinion...anything you do will cause customers to call but while 20-30 calls may seem like alot, it probably is a very small number compared to your total MIF (Machines in Field). Just make the change and weather the storm.
