I sold a few of these in the late eighties and early nineties. Towa Corporation was based out of Morrisville, PA. They had a small dealer channel, in addition to typewriters they also sold copiers and cash registers. They re-label Sanyo copiers. Frak does anyone remember Sanyo!

That one stings for Ricoh. I think it is the start of many dealers going away from Ricoh. MT was I believe, an 80 million dollar dealer and I believe single line Ricoh.

I can't imagine Ricoh would have sold them some of their SMB accts just weeks ago & then this happened? They had to know about it & dodged that part of the bullet.

I bet Ricoh had no clue they were up for sale. Ricoh didn't handle this SMB account sell off well at all and I wonder how much due diligence was done other than to get their nickels on the dollar for the accounts and run.

The acquisition effectively kicks Xerox competitors Ricoh and HP off MT Technologies' line card in the midst of an A3 copier printer market share war.

WTF, Was My Response!!!

Ray Stasiezcko ·

I recently read an article where some in the document industry discussed that the industry’s actors could easily transition to IT services because the industry used to sell typewriters. WTF! Was my response. In November, I spoke at the BTA meeting in Asheville, NC. The topic, transitioning from a print-centric deliverable to an IT services deliverable. In this presentation, I went through some...
