Re: "Green Jobs"
Correct. We'll find a way to drill on the moon to sate our appetite for oil. I don't see the question as "will we run out of oil?" so much as "do we want to give billions of dollars a year to Hugo Chavez, Russia and the Middle East to finance THEIR agendas or should wee develop an American-produced replacement that we can export?"

Re: The reason why Ricoh Bought Ikon
Art stated: "Geesh, so where does that leave the likes of KonicaMinolta, Toshiba, Kyocera and Sharp?" This specific Ricoh Press Release is a direct response to Konica Minolta acquiring All Covered, Inc. If you read carefully, there is no real newsworthy 'event' or 'announcement' in the Press Release, which is a statement in itself. The Press Release announces an 'intent' rather than an 'action' that has been taken. Sources tell me that this 'dog-and-pony' show was dressed up at an event held...

I am just about....37 yrs young. Started with in 1993, SR year of high school part time servicing printers. Other IKON underlings are now becoming more vocal with their discontent as the power struggle continues and IKON darlings begin to feel the heat. Get...

Re: is panasonic still selling copiers?
Panasonic has been out of the industry for about 3-4 years now. There is no parts or R&D from them. There are only 3 distributors in the US...one on the west, east and midwest. All of their support people have taken other jobs with the distributors or in other areas. It was very frustrating dealing with the middle man because many times they did not know the answers and there was no other resources. If anyone is selling these boxes they are off lease systems or units that are sitting in...

Art, We looked at All Care through Konica Minolta but the contract T's & C's were so one sided we thought it was written by the Mafia. The bottom line was they got paid (by the Dealership) whether or not the customer paid you or not. I was speaking to a VP of a large independent dealer on the east coast who had a discussion with the principal of his company. What it would take for his company to do Managed Network Service. His answer was we can: 1) Hire people 2) Partner with a company...

Re: Ricoh acquisition ‘bolsters’ IT services strategy
From what I learned at the BTA East Grand Slam event in Rye Brook, NY on 10/3/12, Ricoh will not adopt this strategy in the U.S. However, they are preparing the RBS locations to pursue Managed IT Services in certain markets. They have no intent to offer any type of offer to Ricoh Dealers, like XEROX has with ACS and Konica Minolta has with All Covered.

watch out for CHINA, no other country has anywhere near the population, nor the revenues that China is accumulating. the next war may not be a war of the military but a war of crippling a nations economy and stealing data/secrets/intellectual property. While everyone is watching the arab spring, Iraq, Afganistan, the europe debt crisis, CHINA is the sleeper that is on it's way to become a military and econmoic powerhouse. They are already flexing their muscle with loaning money to the world.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. We have tons of both 850's 1050's and 1085's (at least 50 from within my branch location) in the field. Mostly in schools (which I personally think is the worst environment to place a copier-due to too many hands on the machine by teachers who can care less about do's and don'ts.). But they quite often run PM to PM without any calls. And I've found that the majority of "in between calls" are due to user mishandling and abuse. Most of the...

Xerox also scaled back a business that makes wide-format printers for engineers and architects. That was one reason the company completely vacated two buildings in East Rochester with 170,000 square feet of space. Xerox’s cutbacks also resulted in extra space at company-owned buildings downtown and in Webster and Henrietta. And Farnan said Xerox is spending millions of dollars in Rochester to improve and renovate those sites. Some of the leased space is being vacated to fill the empty...

The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Unknown if any copier manufacturers will adopt this policy. - A group in Australia at Queensland University, is claiming that...

Snopes says: Origins: The two most important basic facts about this misguided scheme for lowering gas prices are: • It was written several years ago, when the world oil market was considerably different than it is today. • It wasn't accurate even at the time it was written, containing many gross statistical errors and exhibiting a severely flawed grasp of oil industry economics. Although the message quoted above doesn't address where (outside of the Middle East) we import oil from, many...

Well, we're already proven that the economy doesn't shut down when gas hits $3 or even $4. I think a tax which sets the price of gas near $3 with the proceeds going toward developing alternative energy sources would be a good thing. Don't you want to stop borrowing money from communist China to send to the islamic middle east? Why do you hate America?

Re: Where Do You see the Copier Industry in 5 years????
all industries evolve and a business must evolve with their industry or be left behind. Studebake made coaches and buggies and moved to the automobile. Those who sold the coaches and buggies either changed or went under. Many companies in our business started out as typewriter companies and took on copiers or as Fisher's old company, went under. If you are planning on the "copier" industry to last, then think again. It's evolving at a pace that is fast and furious (sorry Vin Diesel). From...

Chuck, with the current "troubled times" (words from Frank Cannata on the latest Live Wire / Cannata Report) at Ricoh, it now makes sense that either Savin or Lanier, or both brands, get elimintated. Just as GM sells Hummer and gives Saturn to the Penske group. It is a shame that on the 50th Anniversary of Savin, started in 1959, it's existence may disappear. I thin it will be Lanier for Dealers and Ricoh for IKON and RBS. The other option is Ricoh only, all the way, for both Dealers and the...
