Re: What Do You Do With End of Lease Copier Hard Drives
They either say in the machines or the customer can buy them and dispose of them how they wish.

Re: What Do You Do With End of Lease Copier Hard Drives
We have any option available but the customer decides how much they are willing to pay for. If the machine is junk, we hand the customer their hard drive if they ask for it.

Hard Drive Wiping, Replacing for Lease Returns
So, I admit we have no policy in writing for wiping, erasing or deleted hard drive data for devices that will be returned to the leasing companies. Lately, I've been involved with three health care accounts and all have asked about our policy. We can and will replace the Hard Drives for our own Ricoh devices and we have small fee for that, however if you don't ask you don't get. Yes, it would be a great idea to sell this service as extra revenue, but when you only get small percentage of the...

Re: Net new business "easy of hard to get this year"
Net new is up for us…not as much as last year and the year before though. All attributed to our revamp of our inbound marketing strategy. We are, and have been, getting warm (almost hot) leads about every day or two now.

Re: Net new business "easy of hard to get this year"
I will say with sharp it has been better but no cake walk like a lot of people think. We are still waiting a good bit for sharp even though overall they are a lot quicker. Selling a lot of brother but it is more to existing accounts right now and e-commerce. We have, unfortunately, a good bit of all manufacturers back ordered right now. I bought a bunch of brother back at the end of last year that lasted us for several months. That’s has helped also. other than that customers are waiting 2-3...

how much of that new business would you attribute to having the Brother A4 line and less problems with inventory since you resell Sharp?

Re: Net new business "easy of hard to get this year"
Net new is up for me this year. Couple of dealers in the area shut their doors during COVID. Another couple acquired and the customer wasn't satisfied with their level of service or to lack of service in old products.

Lately we've been better with getting Ricoh devices, however the accessories are still a bear. I'm also nervous about the same issues you stated.

Re: Net new business "easy of hard to get this year"
I'm always slow in the summer months. As usual around this time of year I get nervous. This year I'm more nervous than ever though about the economy and about the lack of Hardware coming in. I have a lot of leases with existing clients coming to end of term in the 4th quarter and 1st of 2023 and I'm really worried we won't have new equipment from Ricoh to fill the orders.

Hard drives to become extinct?
Hard drives to become extinct? “hard drives will no longer be sold after 2028” stated Shawn Roseman, VP of R&D of Pure Storage Corp. Hard drives are mechanical, have moving parts, use a lot of electricity, generate heat, may have slow access times, and many times are not secure from data theft. Instead, manufacturers are switching to use of solid state memory chips (aka SSD) Pure Storage plans on introducing 300 terabyte models by 2026 and a 600 terabyte model by 2029
