Just use eCopy ShareScan. Every eCopy 'bundle' has a 'Scan to Print' connector - scan the job and select the MFP/printer you want to send it to. Simple - why re-create the wheel with manufacturer-specific workarounds?

Re: MFP Scan to Xerox Docushare

VinceMcHugh ·
eCopy SSOP has a Docushare connector that is pretty slick. And eCopy SSOP works with many MFDs. You can use an embedded version of eCopy SSOP which connects to a eCopy SSOP manager running on a PC, or you can have an eCopy stand alone ScanStation that connects via a network TWAIN interface and stands next to the MFD. You will need the eCopy Docushare connector. Hope this helps!

Re: Your thoughts on NEW Ricoh Color 02 Series

New engine only, also you need to add a fax connector kit to each machine, still alot less than a complete fax option. You would think Ricoh would run out of features to add to new models, but these seem to be items IT people realy like.

Montecore, eCopy SSOP is still my go to solution when I need a specific connector. They have over 250 connectors for their SSOP product. If eCopy has a connector that would be your best bet. While Nuance support is not great you could buy this through Cranel Imaging to get access to their help desk and support. Hope this helps! Vince

By the way, one of the connectors between the scanner and main body has to click into place or else the machine will throw an SC 101 code. It is very easy for the tech at set-up to push the connector on and think its set when in fact a good connection is not made unless it actually clicks.

There is an in and out connection on the cd reader. There is no terminator. I beleive a terminator is a connector that just plugs into the "in" or "out" scuzzi connector. Am I correct with this assumption? Art

Do you know which OS they are using? Is the USB connector on a hub. If they are using a front panel connector on the computer, ask them to try a rear panel connector as there are known issues with the front panel connectors.

If I think back I believe the scanner on the Aficio 401 was scsi and it would not work unless the out connection was connected to a another terminated device or in most cases terminated at the out connector on the machine itself. It has been a few years since I have been tech and worked on those machines. JG

Hey Art, You can scan to Google Docs (now called Google Drive), Microsoft Exchange, Email, Shared Network, as per a regular imageRUNNER ADVANCE unit. Yes, you can get the booklet finisher on a 4225.

You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps

Hey Art, Good post. I didn't know too much about DocuShare so I'm glad I could read about it. I think Canon products deserve a mention. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE line allows you to directly scan to/print from Google Docs and Microsoft Exchange. This is a free feature. Larger imageRUNNER ADVANCE units allow you to scan directly into Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (again free), and if you add the Universal Send Advance/Security Feature Set you can create PDFs with OCR, annotations and...

Ricoh will have their ICE version soon, will try to write more on that. I've found over time that most apps from the manufacturers are so so at best and developing a direct relationship with companies like UDOCX and Print Audit is more beneficial to the end user and to the dealer that is selling the solution. Thanx for the comment!!!

Re: Aficio 551

Jomama (Guest) ·
Sometimes it is a pc of paper sturck between the tray connector and frame connector, if it is intermittant, use a contact cleaner on the connector and plug. If the paper is not set right, that is holding one of the corner flaps open slightly, you will get that message. This was addressed in TIB 27, it requires a part and a ROM change, plus (Ithink)a firmware upgrade.

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?

GrantW ·
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.
