You can also think of it this way, lets say your selling production and the cost is $30k and the mu is 15%, that means before you even add GP the dealer or direct is already pocketing $8,100...

Hello BLavey - There are many variables that can affect the rate factor (brand, model, special lease terms, etc), but I can give you a rough idea of what you may be looking at. 36 Month, FMV: .02716 - .0284 48 Month, FMV: .0222 - .0228 60 Month, FMV: .0178 - .0184 If you are a Ricoh dealer, I know that US Bank had some special rates that may be go as low as .02666 for 36 months. I'm not sure if these rates are still active. Additionally, if you are a Konica dealer, US Bank very recently had...

What the hell..? Those lease rate factors are ridiculously low. Your 24 month LRF is lower than then average 60 month LRF. Aren't these low interest rates exactly what got the banks into trouble in the first place back in 2008? It's not sustainable if you want to flip those accounts again in 3.5-4 years with higher rates...

It's not the low interest rates that got the economy in trouble it was the people that got it in trouble.

US Bank Ricoh Promo rates are lower than these, at least in deals where the equipment being financed are Ricohs. Of course, that is because Ricoh is most likely subsidizing the rates. Most of a lease company's profits do not come from interest but from "alternative forms of revenue" that the lease generates i.e. late fees, forced insurance, evergreen clauses, exaggerated property tax, restocking fees, etc. just to name a few.

A Great Tip for "Why Referrals Still Matter"

Lease Rates to die for!!

I'll admit it's been some time since I was concerned about lease rates.  I 'm aware that many dealers and direct "bump" the rates. I have not asked to see current rates here on the forums for awhile, you know it's coming right, however I had some...

Selling Copiers in the Eighties with Mike Karasik

Mike has been a member of the Print4Pay Hotel as long as I can remember. While Mike and I have never met we've been able to communicate via our message boards and Linkedin over the years. I believe these stories are important because much of what we were taught has been lost through out the years. Selling Copiers in the Eighties with Mike Karasik Art: How did you find your way into the copier industry? Mike: I started my career at Dun & Bradstreet back in the early 70’s eventually got...

Art and Mike, Great interview. I have done this with Art and find reading these interviews educational as well as fun. Similar stories. I think I recall a mentor of mine saying this ”for whatever is old (school) is forever new (school) in the end it is essential to have a cadence and practice time management while keeping prospecting foremost in view. Mike you are right that the pandemic was and has been crazy but we stuck it out and now have additional skills that in some cases (zoom) can...

Little Story About a Salesman Named Jed

It’s late, and I’m going through this quickly, so please bear with me. I had an existing account that was shared with a Direct Branch. The Direct Branch held the majority of the placements, while we had three units in a satellite office. One of those placements was a 135-page-per-minute production system. I had maintained a good relationship with the manager for eight years and had been in touch with him about the lease's end. My contact mentioned that Direct would also be quoting a new...
