Re: Scan to Cloud Server with NSI?
99% sure the NSI would need to reside on the server being provided by the local IT company.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Art: Not sure if this would help but there is a setting in the ABBYY componenet for allow pass through. This should allow the original file to pass through. I'm not sure if this would happen before the OCR process or after. If it happened before, the final product could be appended to differentiate the OCR'd document or directed to a different location.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Lots of experience w NSI. First, never worry about slowing the sales cycle - get it right up front. Second, large files always require additional fire power to OCR, I have seen many happy customers after adding addtl OCR engines from NSI. My recommendation is to engage a PS resource or NSI themselves, you will have a happyer customer as a result.

Has anyone had experience with NSI output manager? It is supposed to compete with PaperCut?

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
No experience with Output Manager, but have been VERY pleased with PaperCut so far. We have an installation in Phase 1 right now with 19 MFPs, all embedded with PaperCut (prox card authentication), XMedius Fax Server, PSI Capture Intelligent Routing, and DocAudit. Should be interesting to say the least!

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Perhaps you could have engaged your professional services group who would have asked specific questions of the client to determine what their workflow would be and ultimately the configuration of the software. They could have helped you avoid those two issues if they had the opportunity to speak to the client prior to install.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Honestly, I don't think your customer has a reasonable expectation. OCRing large documents takes time.....it doesn't matter what OCR engine you are using. I played programming NSI for the first time yesterday in our showroom and the small scans I was doing were instant. 20 pages of invoices....not so fast. It is what it is.

Re: Need Some Help with Canon Solutions
Art, There are several options regarding scan workflows on the imageRUNNER Advanced devices. Uniflow is a Canon owned option. Also, an embedded or Scan Station from eCopy just to name a couple.

Re: Need Some Help with Canon Solutions
Hey Art, As far as I know, NSI Autostore is not supported by Canon. Canon does work really well with eCopy ShareScan though. Depending on the scan workflow you need, a lot of the functions are built into the 2nd generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform. For example, Scan to Word, OCR, etc. You can enhance these workflows using the Quick Menu button to create 1-touch shortcuts. I use eCopy ShareScan if customers require Zonal OCR.

Re: Need Some Help with Canon Solutions
Thanks for this! Which beings me to another question. On my Ricoh devices, I can set up a scan workflow button (standard feature), I can then program that button to deliver that document to multiple email addresses, folders and fax numbers (I'm pretty sure of the fax). Thus the user presses the one workflow button and the document is sent to the multiple locations in one shot. Is there a feature like this with the Canon systems, if so is it a standard feature or an option?

Re: Need Some Help with Canon Solutions
Hey Art, Yes, it's called the Quick Menu, standard on all imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices. You can program virtually any task to a 1-touch button. Instead of separate Scan and Fax functions, Canon uses something called Universal Send which allows you to send a document via Fax, Scan To Email, Scan to Folder, etc. all at the same time.

Re: The Future of Scanning for MFP's aka Copiers is in the Cloud
Art, Interesting read! Here's a little "trick" I figured out. Setting up Cloud Scanning is very easy and can be without any additional software if the cloud storage offers a folder on your PC. For example, Dropbox and Google Drive when installed place "drag and drop" folders on your desktop. You can then set up a small workflow for scanning to the cloud by registering a Scan To Shared Folder and set the Dropbox or Google Drive folder as your destination. Your scanned document will...

Czech Thanx for the reply, you have been scanning to a single folder on dropbox for years and recently added google drive on the 5 year old MFP we used in the sales area. You could set up multiple "buttons" on the MFP for additional folders.

Re: The Future of Scanning for MFP's aka Copiers is in the Cloud
I can't say that I agree that scan to email or folder are dying in my experience. Scanning to Office 365 should only require a special connector configuration in the hub transport layer. Like traditional scan to email or folder the first time is difficult and it doesn't seem like it's worth the effort but in time it should become more simple. "Scan to Cloud" seems to be a vague term as most people who are looking for a solution like this may be referring to scanning to their application...

Re: Twelve Days of Selling "Day 4"
Art, I've enjoyed reading your 12 days of selling especially the part about Saturdays. I really like that part now as when I woke up this morning I had an email from about 7am from a client who needs to spend the rest of his budget before year end. So not a bad Saturday morning start with a 25,000 order for 2 new color systems. This month should turn out well as I expect another 25,000 order on Monday and finished yesterday out with a wide format order and a small church system order.
