I have heard from some of the secondary aftermarket suppliers wanting people to stock up before the tariffs take effect. Seems they are using it like any other bad news piece and trying to gain business now. I also wonder how this will affect the Japanese manufacturers.

Re: Cannata Awards Recipients
I wanted to respond to the "Best Software & Services Providers" Award. It's my understanding and I could be wrong, is that a dealer survey is sent to "x" dealers with the above questions. There were four nominees that I heard of and they were: ACDI FM Audit Paper Cut Square 9 Where is DocuWare, Nuance, Print Audit, PSIGEN, MWAI and the others? Which got me to thinking. Is Cannata using the same pool of dealers every year for the voting? I'm thinking maybe yes, because these players in...

Re: Cannata Awards Recipients
I agree Rick Taylor has done a superb job at KM but I think he does win it every year. Rightfully so in my opinion, but I also believe Cannata uses the same dealers every year. Since I met them a couple years ago and we use 4 or 5 partners on the lists now we have been included in the voting for the last 2 years.

Re: Cannata Awards Recipients
Ty for the comment, I think the same about Taylor. So, unless those dealers change who they use as third party supplies, none of the other will ever get on the list.

Re: Who Would be a Viable Buyer for Toshiba Tec?
Makes me wonder what may happen. From my talks with muratec, of course I'm not in a high position of being in the know, it sounds like the label presses will become their go to product and eventually the mfp's will be less important to them. It would be interesting to me if Samsung sold to HP for a billion (I'm not sure why HP thought they were getting a steal by paying a billion for the copier division) and then Samsung turns around and says "thanks for the billion dollars, now we are going...

Re: Who Would be a Viable Buyer for Toshiba Tec?
I figure the way Samsung treats everyone else in the tech world they would be laughing all the way to the bank with their billion, and then laugh all the way to the bank buying a company with a more whole product portfolio.....look at what they do with apple. Steal a patent and just pay off the lawsuit judgements and move on.

Up=Coming China Tariffs on Copiers parts & accessories

How does this affect the Japanese manufacturers in China? Please reply if you know something!

Earlier today I had a call from another rep that works with me. He was pretty upset that a client was able to find the same MP 3555SP for sale on the web for $300 or so dollars under his sales cost. What even bothered him more was that the reseller was not an Authorized reseller for Ricoh, nor Canon. Which leads me to who is this web company buying the new MP 3555SP from? That web company (non authorized reseller) is buying the MP 3555SP from an Authorized Dealer. Most if not all dealer...

Ricoh ICE, selling maybe to 10% of my clients. I mention it to every account, however in most cases I met with "what is scanning to the cloud". I then have to make mention of dropbox, google drive, box, MS365 or ask what they use. There's nothing I don't like about the app, it has a decent price point. On a 5 year lease I need to include 5 years Maintenance along with the cost of the app. Personally I wish there was a monthly commission that could be generated to the sales person. The real...

Manufacturer and the non-authorized reseller are the winners. And I believe that because everyone gets paid when a box moves, nothing will change and its going to get much worse. A couple years back one manufacturer opened up their entire product line to distribution (85ppm A3). I'm a dealer of the products and compete against non-authorized sellers and the internet often. My advice is to prepare yourself for the conversation in advance. Be ready to talk to the customer about why you should...
