Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

What is the scan speed for monochrome documents (black)? Scanning up to 200ipm, depending upon resolution and color vs b/w Can this device print or scan to an SD Card? No to SD card, yes to a USB Is secure, or locked print standard feature in print driver? Secure Print is available in the print driver What is the max scan resolution? Max scan resolution is 600 x 600 (this makes a pretty big file any higher resolution would make file sizes unmanageable) Is there a schedule print feature in...

Thanx for this. A few more questions. What is the simplex scan speed? Connectkey, is that an option? With our Ricoh devices, we can set up a one touch button, and then have that document(s) routed to multiple email destinations, multiple folders and even fax numbers. The same can be done with Connectkey?

Re: Xerox WorkCentre 5945/5955 Questions
Thought I would jump in Art. Sounds like you are in a competitive with a Xerox. The strength of the ConnectKey is not the address book functions and all the other standard goodies but the ability of the dealer and end user IT personel to be able to do a log me in session straight to the panel remotely. Training, setting up complicated jobs and troubleshooting can all be done through the virtual panel just like a log me in session. Not sure if Ricoh has that capability but it the Xerox rep is...

Re: Page Number with new 03 devices
I do not recall page numbering within the PCL6 driver. Never really had a need for it I guess.

Re: Page Number with new 03 devices
I remember page numbering was available from the RPCS driver a few years ago.

Re: Page Number with new 03 devices
I looked everywhere and I couldn't find it. I have started using the PCL6 exclusively because it seems to be the only driver that doesn't want to rotate collate everytime you print. I used to use the PCL5 until it began rotate collating everything resulting in paper type mismatches when letter is loaded in only 1 drawer. I wish they would keep things consistent.

Selling Copiers "Going Old School May Win The Day"
A few weeks ago I had a conversation with a net new prospect in reference to additional print samples that they would to see. In this case they wanted me to access some files from their FTP, and gave me a list of substrates (paper) that they would like to see the samples printed. The last part of the conversation with the person in charge of the gathering process was, "feel free to add something else that would provide a WOW factor". Geesh, I thought, you're leaving it up to me to be...

57 Days of Selling "Day 44"
Thirteen days left..... it's been exhausting. It's about 20 past ten and I'm ready to pass out. In the AM, I had a training session for one of my largest accounts. Recently, we placed three wide format multifunctional systems, the primary use of these systems was for scanning. My training session was to teach them about the additional scan features that could be used for scanning wide format documents. Their IT department had the systems set up for scan to a single folder. The user would...

57 Days of Selling "Day 53" The Remaining 40 Hours
This is it, the week before Christmas! As of this morning I still had twenty-five percent of the month left. After letting the "ball come to me" on Friday. Today was similar to most the other fifty three days, with one exception. We'll get to that exception later. Linkedin Over the weekend I had a LinkedIn chat exchange with Bobbie Foedisch, the crux of the thread centered on LinkedIn removing some of the basic features that were free with LinkedIn. I'm a ten year veteran of LinkedIn...

The Quest for $200K "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail"
A great quote from the great orator and statesmen Ben Franklin. As I stated in yesterdays blog, today was all about prepping for four appointments tomorrow. Back in the eighties, copier sales people relied on their knowledge, demo skills and leading the client to the path of making a decision for buying or leasing that copy machine. But, before the demonstration, we outlined what the clients needs were for each device. For example the client required these features: stapling the ability to...

Nice job Art! Did you go Ricoh? Not sure if Ricoh has this feature too, but this has always been one of my favourite copy features to show in a demo! http://www.imagerunneradvance....opy_062_ex/func.html

Re: Selling Copiers "Going Old School May Win The Day"
yes led with Ricoh. It's about the sizzle, and I can see how your feature on the Canon would add sizzle to the demo! Many features go unused, however, it's good to show and tell! Ty for the comment!

Re: Selling Copiers "Going Old School May Win The Day"
I remember losing a deal probably 30 years ago when I was told that they bought the competitor because the competitor's unit could print transparencies. Of course everyone could print transparencies but only one salesrep demonstrated it and the prospect didn't know any better. Every since then i have tried to change my thinking and my dialog. I will say many times in a presentation, "With the Ricoh you can..." as if it is something unique to Ricoh. For instance, if a company says that they...

Art, Here's the short of it... Image Smoothing: Improves overall image quality by smoothing low-resolution images and the gradation transitions in line art.

Re: Image Smooting Feature with Fiery
Art, All EFI "Smoothing" does is introduce "noise" to the image. It works well if you have "Stepping" in your gradation (light to dark or dark to light). I think level 1 works better than version 2 but test it yourself! That's My $0.02 Vince

Re: Better Call Art "Printer Driver Features Can be a Lockout"
Art, as usual, you hit the nail on the head! Using lockout specs for things such printer drivers and, also, scanner drivers can be a big deal to help sales. This is why I'm an advocate of using the emerging open source scanner driver specification with TWAIN Direct , but adding lockout features such as single sign-on authentication, PDF/R file creation or blockchain/NFT the scanned images as tokens! Each one of these features is a big deal itself, but combine them together and you can offer...

Windows 11 update set to cause major issues with print capabilities
Caught this on one of my feeds As Windows 10 reaches its shelf life, Microsoft will be issuing an optional Windows 11 update as of October 8, 2024 . This optional/BETA update will have a feature called Windows Protected Print Mode (WPP). The feature will remove all third-party print drivers, print queues, and print spoolers, and replace them with a “new” default Windows driver. What will this mean for your print services? An estimated 30% of all print devices will not function with MPP...
