Re: MPC 8002SP with scan2ocr Review
We did not have the chance to get UDOCX running today, just not enough time, hopefully we'll have this up and running tomorrow. Has anyone else done some testing with the OCR on any of the new 03 series?

Re: Ricoh ICE (Intergrated Cloud Environment)
I've tested it, & the OCR takes longer than I would like. I don't expect much for the price, but my clients will. The two biggest issues I have is that it doesn't look like you can remove the icons for services you don't use which is annoying and the fact that you can only scan into the main directory of your cloud services. That's a HUGE miss. Additionally, with Windows 8 being forced on more businesses & the deep integration of SkyDrive into Windows 8, they will need to have a...

Re: Ricoh ICE (Intergrated Cloud Environment)
Maybe I did something wrong during setup. Ours in our demo room is incredibly slow. Just to get to the URL for the home screen takes a while. Getting to dropbox app (or any others) and logging in and making selections takes so long it still looks like this is in development. I must be doing something wrong. Our internet connection is good and I don't know why the MFP is so slow. Do I need to add something? Memory, GB ethernet?

Re: Ricoh ICE (Intergrated Cloud Environment)
Played with trying to set it up in our showroom. First of all it took over a week and several emails to get a code to enter into the machine when the documentation claims you will get the code within an hour. Fought with it and the piss poor instructions for a couple of hours. Gave up. Can't sell something where the support from Ricoh is that poor. Moved on.

We bought one of the C300 when they were clearing them out and imagine my surprise to learn we also had to put toner in it! All the other printer based models come with starter cartridges. Anyway, the toner cost more than the fricken machine!!

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Art: Not sure if this would help but there is a setting in the ABBYY componenet for allow pass through. This should allow the original file to pass through. I'm not sure if this would happen before the OCR process or after. If it happened before, the final product could be appended to differentiate the OCR'd document or directed to a different location.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Lots of experience w NSI. First, never worry about slowing the sales cycle - get it right up front. Second, large files always require additional fire power to OCR, I have seen many happy customers after adding addtl OCR engines from NSI. My recommendation is to engage a PS resource or NSI themselves, you will have a happyer customer as a result.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
No experience with Output Manager, but have been VERY pleased with PaperCut so far. We have an installation in Phase 1 right now with 19 MFPs, all embedded with PaperCut (prox card authentication), XMedius Fax Server, PSI Capture Intelligent Routing, and DocAudit. Should be interesting to say the least!

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Perhaps you could have engaged your professional services group who would have asked specific questions of the client to determine what their workflow would be and ultimately the configuration of the software. They could have helped you avoid those two issues if they had the opportunity to speak to the client prior to install.

Re: NSI Auto Store Installs
Honestly, I don't think your customer has a reasonable expectation. OCRing large documents takes time.....it doesn't matter what OCR engine you are using. I played programming NSI for the first time yesterday in our showroom and the small scans I was doing were instant. 20 pages of invoices....not so fast. It is what it is.

Re: Global Scan NX Server 32 Question
Art, I never did a lot with Global Scan when I was at Ricoh Business Systems \ Boston but I have done some work with OCR and large format. It is not an easy task. The amount of data that has to be processed, especially since most of the Wide Format is drawings and not text. If you can set a specific zone to OCR maybe it would work better. But at least the last time I looked at it, it didn't turn out very successful. Again, I didn't use GlobalScan, so maybe it will turn out better for you.

Re: Global Scan NX Server 32 Question
Hi Art, The only piece of software that I can think can do this is eCopy ShareScan. The back end is completely customizable, so you should be able to configure every scan to auto rotate before getting dumped into the watch folder. Most manufacturers are eCopy authorized, so I would talk to your dealer account manager to confirm this.

Czech Thanx for this, however the device we want to use does not support eCopyShare Scan.

Re: OCR option MP C4503
I have not seen this yet. Have you tried to scanning to thumb drive to see if there is the same issue? I remember doing a scan demonstration for a client with blank page on (or at least I do) and the speed was incredible with the thumb drive. The next option I would try is scanning to ICE, because the OCR is done in the cloud, however not sure if ICE will do blank page. Art

Re: OCR option MP C4503
got this from my DSM, he's really good. Running this document through a GSNX or AutoStore or eCopy server will absolutely be faster than our built-in OCR option. The processors in MFPs are vastly slower than a PC.

Re: RICOH EMPOWERS MOBILE WORKERS WITH INDUSTRY’S MOST EXPANSIVE CLOUD SERVICES SOLUTION
No mention of price for the basic or premium service, no mention that you need to purchase the optional MFP browser unit. Many people are not aware that you can scan to dropbox from your current MFP and you don't need ICE to do that. I'm not that familiar with some of the other cloud solutions however if they use the same setup as dropbox you can scan to them from your current Ricoh MFP. I guess the big deal would be if I could scan to multiple folders in dropbox or if I can choose a...

The High Cost of Noncompliance in Health Care
Health care IT security has been lackluster of late, to say the least, as countless breaches of patient data have taken place in a relatively short period of time with no signs of a changing tide rolling in soon. This is one of the many reasons why regulators and law enforcement officials have started to come down hard on hospitals and other medical firms that are not doing everything in their power to maintain compliance and protect information from the grasp of hackers and other threats.
