Re: Linked In Generating Leads "updates"
My profile is one big copier advertisement. I use blog links on my profile offering advice on what we offer, and a Buyer's Guide. I also interact on LinkedIn groups in my city to connect with business owners. I've yet to generate solid prospects from LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a good tool to discover more about your prospects than to actually contact them. If anyone has ideas, I'd love to try them out.

Re: Net New Business "How Do We Do It"?
You yourself Art dropped this pearl of wisdom a few days ago "A few days ago, I was going through my "Who's viewed your profile" on Linkedin. I try to connect with all of my second level contacts" I was on a recent sales seminar and believe that the point of Linkedin is to get and communicate with as many second level contacts as possible. LinkedIn is definitely the new sales tool of the last few years. I have been quilty of not using it effectively but now I put at least 30 minutes per week...

Hey Art, You can scan to Google Docs (now called Google Drive), Microsoft Exchange, Email, Shared Network, as per a regular imageRUNNER ADVANCE unit. Yes, you can get the booklet finisher on a 4225.

You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

From the Ricoh's I've played around with, you can see all of the file names in the document server, but require authentication to print/send the file. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. Files are then securely stored inside each mailbox so that non-authenticated users cannot see what's inside someone else's mailbox.

Re: linkedin "a few surprises for me"
you can't be added on linkedin without accepting, wonder if he was just getting to many "please, please connect with me". I would suspect than many owners will start to back off and delete the profiles if the emails are over burdening. Shame would be the end of a good tool and maybe the end of linkedin? Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Hey Art, Good post. I didn't know too much about DocuShare so I'm glad I could read about it. I think Canon products deserve a mention. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE line allows you to directly scan to/print from Google Docs and Microsoft Exchange. This is a free feature. Larger imageRUNNER ADVANCE units allow you to scan directly into Microsoft Word and Powerpoint (again free), and if you add the Universal Send Advance/Security Feature Set you can create PDFs with OCR, annotations and...

Re: Smart Scanning with Scan2Cloud Apps
Ricoh will have their ICE version soon, will try to write more on that. I've found over time that most apps from the manufacturers are so so at best and developing a direct relationship with companies like UDOCX and Print Audit is more beneficial to the end user and to the dealer that is selling the solution. Thanx for the comment!!!

Re: connect copy/print with two 1060's?
Just the Connect Kit. You don't need two controllers as long as you don't need to be able to print to the second unit independent of the first. In other words, the 2nd unit will not be able to do print jobs except those that are split by the master unit.

Re: bluetooth printing
Wireless is indeed slower than a cable connection ... 802.11a up to 54Mbps, 802.11b up to 11Mbps, 802.11b+ up to 22 Mbps, 802.11g which will accept a, b, & b+ formats. But unless you are transferring REALLY REALLY BIG stuff between the wireless devices, speed should not be noticeable (or if your wireless printer or other device is located quite a distance from the wireless access point as the speed reduces the further the distance) ... remember, those are megabits (8 bits to a byte ...

Re: Printer and scanner combo
With IS200e and IS300e you need to connect the printer via the USB or network and then set up in Web Image Monitor. These are not just plug and play. So even if you want to use just USB printing you would still need to connect via network to set up in WIM.

Re: Help! IS100e
The issues were Window components and firewall. The IT person did not want to change these settings. When changed, everything worked great. These are the REAL LIFE situations that we service reps encounter every time we need to connect one of our products. Sales sells it, and the buyer, buys it. Nether know how to connect it, or what’s involved.

Re: 1515mf
well, you can go to a MS-DOS prompt and type tracert <insert your SMTP server IP address here> This will tell you the name of the server associated with that IP address (assuming you have DNS setup and the server does not block ICMP requests). Technically if the IP address he gave you is actually the correct IP address for his SMTP server, then there is no difference between using the IP and the name (as long as the IP is static). When I'm having trouble getting scan to email to work,...

So you are saying that as long as you can connect to the SMTP server from the local NW you can set up scan to email? I did not understand it that way. I guess the test would be whether or not you can PING the SMTP server from a local node?

Re: Network Scanning Problems
Bingo. Server connections are limited by the amount of valid licenses, workstation connections are limited to 10. This is true for all current Windows OS. These are "active" connections so if the users only occasionally connect they won't be a problem. The Default amount of idle time before disconnecting a user is 15 minutes. This can be changed under "Local Security Policy". click on Security Settings, Local Policies, Security Options and you will see "Amount of idle time required before...

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.
