This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago for the First Week of May 2005

Art Post ·
Back in 2005 I was just 2 years into having a real web site for the copier industry. I started back in 2000 with an message forum with MSN communities. It was really cool because there was no on-line forum where sales people and principals could chat, share ideas, share war stories, share information, share competitive info and the list goes on and on. Twenty years later there is still no site like the Print4Pay Hotel. Did I do something right? We're still the only site that allows members...

Re: Old Copier Brochures & Ads Preserved @ Print4Pay Hotel

Amanda ·
Your Blog was forwarded to me and it was very interesting. I started my Office Equipment carrier January 1958 with Anderson Office Equipment in Great Falls, Mt. At that time we had the Franchise for Friden Calculators, Royal Typewriters and Verifax (Kodak) Copiers. At that time our main competitor was 3M Thermo-faxes. Montana did not see the Xerox 914 until the early 60's and it pretty well spelled the end to the Verifax and Thermo-fax. I started my own business in Helena, Mt. January 1,...

Old Copier Brochures & Ads Preserved @ Print4Pay Hotel

Art Post ·
The first plain paper copier was marketed in 1959 by Xerox.  The model 914 weighed some 648 lbs and only made seven copies per minute.    When people think about copiers, most will think that all copy machines made copies onto...

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago (4th Week of January 2007)

Art Post ·
There's a great thread about a P4P'er asking where they could find some information about selling to the Print4Pay Industry. Shaja makes mention of three web sites and I chimed in with a few points of my own. You can check out that thread here. Xerox Quarterly Net Falls, But Sales Rise 1/23/07 9:23 PM NEW YORK - Xerox Corp., the world's largest provider of office printers, copiers and related services, posted lower quarterly net income Tuesday, hurt by restructuring costs, but sales of its...

Selling Copiers in the Seventies with Chuck Parr

Art Post ·
I had the opportunity to meet Chuck many years ago, thinking it was at one of the first Ricoh dealer events I attended back in the nineties. Chuck was one of the speakers and I was floored by his public speaking ability. Somewhere during those few days I made it a point to introduce myself to Chuck and thanked him for the awesome performance. How did you find your way into the copier industry? When I graduated from college in 1972 I and a lifelong childhood friend and I started a small...

Re: Selling Copiers in the Seventies with Chuck Parr

Loved this post for lots of reasons. The main reason is that it is spot on. I started in 1982. I was a displaced steelworker who was hired by Comdoc (with a group who all sold for Xerox in the 70's, who was expanding under the Ricoh Brand in upstate NY So many Xerox traits described here were incorporated. Despite having no experience in sales and going head to head with the Xerox hot shots in major accounts, I gradually adopted the skills and started winning. The 30 day cycle is so true,...

Still holds true today, "focus on the customer". I also like taking those shorts naps after every quarter. They are much needed therapy
