What Really Happened with Print: History Lessons for 3D Printing Equipment Manufacturers
If you know me, or have read my work, you know I come from the 2D printing industry and was selling machines for Xerox back in the 1990’s, when digital (2D) printing was just taking off. For a long time now, I’ve been comparing 2D and 3D printing. Now, others are joining the fray. Last week Eddie Krassenstein wrote an article about the underperformance of Stratasys and 3D Systems. He interviewed Rick Twiggs, who owns a consulting company called Unchained Thought. Near the beginning of the...

Re: How to EDIT your post
What if you want to delete a post? As mentioned above, you have 60 minutes after you create a new topic or reply in which to EDIT IT . After that, your post can only be edited by a forum Moderator. DELETING a new topic, post or reply that you have created is a little bit different. Users can always delete their own comments/replies to any piece of content. Users can always delete posts made to their profile's comment wall. Users can always delete their own clips (pictures they've added to...

How to edit a post: MORE ON HOW TO INDENT There are limitations to this posting editor and one of them is that using a TAB does nothing! Become friends with the indent button on the edit menu bar... That's the Indent button circled in red above . Use this button instead of a TAB. But there are quirks to its use. (Don't give up! You can do this!) Let's say you want to indent the lines highlighted below... So you select them with your mouse and you hit the Indent button. This may work just...

How to edit a post: CREATING A HORIZONTAL LINE (Why not make your post look pretty?) You can add a horizontal line while you are posting or editing. Become friends with this button on the edit menu bar (shown circled in red below). Just position your cursor where you'd like a line to appear and click the horizontal line button. Why use this? To separate the various portions of a lesson - the background info from the setting up info and the actual lesson. An example of using the horizontal...

How to edit a post: ADDING A LINK Now, on to the instructions... You can always just paste in the URL of a page, like this: http://www.rotation.org/topic/...3#295011598215971213 But that can look scary! (And messy looking.) How about adding links in a nice, neat fashion such as this -- with underlined words that folks can click on and be taken to a particular page, like this: How to do this? Glad you asked! First, go to the page you wish to link to and copy the URL of that page. Now go to...

I lost a sale because of this
when the client balked at moving forward with the order I stuck to my guns with my proposal. I was told that they would mull on it and might (means they would) entertain another vendor. Here's what I did wrong....I should have created and alternative quote to my original proposal. I believe doing that would have increased my chances. This was the first time I had a client opt for inkjet rather than a toner based wide format. They told me they were not happy with the way their current wide...

Re: I lost a sale because of this
The HP wide formats are hot boxes. Particularly the 4-roll machine which HP won't let us sell because a dealer 50 miles away is authorized for that product. We've sold two or three times as many of the two-roll HPs than we have Ricoh 6700 and 22XX series wide formats the past couple of years.
