Rules of thumb...sell nothing but the need for an appointment on a phone call or initial call. Also never "sell" during your fact-finding for several reasons: 1.) The fact-finding process gets interrupted or stopped. 2.) You come across like a dog salivating over fresh meat. 3.) You tip your hand and lose some of the thunder you will get from your proposal. 4.) You inspire additional questions and thought processes that the prospect will then discuss with competitors. read the rest in the...

Email 2 Ricoh America Corp about RBS 7/3/078:16 PM 6, the other Design Ideas Group (lost 6 machines). Why are they doing this to Ricoh Dealers???? We will be out of business if this trend continues, somebody has to step up to the plate and tell them the business they should be getting is from Kyocera Accounts,...

I pulled up one of the old threads below "Sales Tips" and it brought me to a thread I was posting each week for about 30 weeks or so. It's ripe with some good selling tips. I believe these were being emailed to me at the time, thus once it's emailed to me, I figure it's good to go to post up on the site. Enjoy!! Very cool thread from Boston Mike below. From all of the threads about the Color MFPs, I think we can say that 2003 marked the beginning of the road for color MFP's. Fifteen years later color MFP's are common in the office today. Margins continue to erode along lower cost devices. There's an interesting thread below about an RBS sales person that person accepted $3,500 from a copier sales person so that RBS could win that bid of 73 copiers. Which raises in interesting question about gifts, trips and prizes to a person that works for a corporation if they buy their copiers from xyz dealer. It's my understanding that any gift, trip or prize is then the property of the corporation and not the person (decision maker). Yet, we find some dealers openly engaging in offering...

This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago Third Week of November 2007 sponsored by Back when carbon paper was the thing every office used, and it was getting less and less, it was the age of the copier/printer. The industry has not changed very much, in the sense that it stills sells the means to put dots on paper. Well, I guess they also do a few other...
