Re: Are Copier Sales Reps Asking the Right Questions

Old Glory ·
As you said, this blog wasn't meant to cover all the bases but your comments about brand loyalty and brand/service provider loyalty are only true if the decision maker has been the same for each decision. If you aren't talking to the owner, you may be talking to a totally different person than the one that made past decisions. You need to know that before you decide whether to pack your bags and walk away. Also, in a leased equipment environment, the decision to stay with the same brand and...

The user loves the fact that they can send their 11x17 spreads to the doc server and then configure the print settings at the copier. Just trying to accommodate the end user

Kitz ·
Since they have the Fiery, once the job is printed it can be archived on the Fiery, all print settings will stay with that job. Make sure they have command work station installed on their PC and log into the fiery controller, right click on the print job and archive it.

You can still use the document server with the fiery using the fiery postscript driver or the fiery pcl driver. In the PS driver just click the job properties tab, check document server, and fill in a name or whatever you want.

I have had people want to do this too because it's easier to figure out. Also you can't change any job properties except the quantity when reprinting from the fiery.

Re: Ricoh Production Unit Question

msaeger ·
There is friction feed with air separation on all the current production machines. So they have rollers that actually feed the paper and there are fans that blow the paper apart to help prevent multifeeding and it also helps if the paper sticks together and won't pull out of the tray.

Re: Oce PlotWave 450 Scan Question

That is Fast! In my experience, the limiting factor in scanning w.f. originals isn't the hardware, it's the ability to load, position, and un-load the originals. I like the way my Savin machines can be easily converted to a "flat" scanner, which when used with a SureStack, can really scan fast! You are only limited by your ability to load the next original.

Oce' machines are weak. Expensive and a terrible user interface compared to a Ricoh or KIP.

I ran into the banner printing objection in a deal a while back where I was up against Konica/Minolta. The customer was really hung up on the feature as the KM guy had seized upon it as something my machine couldn't do. I turned it around with the customer by simply asking them if that is something they really need to do and if they were to do it I asked them where they planned to get the paper to do it. They thought about it a moment and came to the realization that realistically it was a...

and another, however this one was from an old CFO in late sixties or early seventies: With an existing vendor and salesperson. Would you rather have follow ups via phone call or email? Follow up phone calls are more effective when there’s something important to talk about. Constant emails that serve no purpose other than advertising get deleted. The only way to extract documents from the Document Server is to install the File Format Converter before inputting the documents and also have it installed on the new product...that ship has probably already sailed. We usually use a stack of Post-it notes and manually print them out and input them. Very tedious, but the only method that really works that I know of. When configured properly the Mac drivers should be able to do most everything the Windows drivers can...finding a user...

The features are all there on a Mac but they are buried in the driver in places that may not be easy to find for the user. Best bet is to find out what advanced features the customer will use then dig for the settings and set them up as printer pre-sets.

ADP CDK laserstation 6100 question

Art Post ·
I'm a newbie with this stuff, however, I have a card dealer that has 15 of these printers. They look like Kyocera printers. I also see many compatibles being offered on the web. I also noticed that CDK has maintenance/supply programs where everything is included for a monthly price along with "x" amount of pages per month, and a cap for how many toners they can use in 12 months. Does anyone know the pricing from CDK or even better, how I can grab these clicks? Art

Ricoh SR 3290 Booklet Maker Question

Art Post ·
The SR 3290 booklet maker is offer for the new IMC 4500 and 6000 series. I'm curious if this booklet maker has an internal stacking mechanism. Meaning that while one booklet is being ejecting the next booklet is being stacker so there is no close down with the print process. The SR3270 is not capable of this. BTW, the product launch documents are terrible for the new IMC series. Hoping anyone can help on this since Ricoh did a recent purge of marketing and product peeps.

Crowdsourcing Idea for P4P Members

So, would like to see if we can make this happen. I've put together a list of three questions for my IT & DM contacts. I am sending these questions to existing accounts first, when we have an email exchange. I am asking them to help me. My goal is to have many of P4P members asking the same questions to yourclientsand then funneling the data back to me so we can analyze the data and give it back to our members. Here's the questions.
