This Week in the Copier Industry 15 Years Ago (First Week of March 2004)
Seems we're coming to the end of the first quarter already. After dumping everything into the end of 2018. I've had a rough go of it for the past 7 weeks. Last week proved to be better with two orders and one of them was $45K. We're also going see have then end of the fiscal years for most if not all of the copier manufacturers. This time of years scares me because nothing is safe, you need to ask the tough questions up front and try your best to wrap up business either the day you met with...

This Week in the Copier/Office Equipment Industry 10 Years Ago The First Week of October 2006
While I was scrolling down on this weeks threads from ten years ago, I saw the threads for the Aficio MPC2500, MP C3000, MPC3500, and MP C4500. Hard to believe that these systems are ten years old now Another old but goodie was the introduction of the variable print head for the Seri Model 25. The variable print head was actually an HP print head/cartridge that was located in the Seri Model 25. Never sold the VPPH model, however I did sell a few of the Seri Model 25, in fact I just sold a...

Transforming How Sales Professionals Develop New Business by Integrating Social into the Sales Process
Mediocre, average, unexceptional, ordinary, complacent - these aren’t qualities that usually come to mind when we consider successful salespeople. A Secret Tip for Prospecting via Email
I's like to make a long story short, however that may not be the case with this blog. I figure it out as I continue to write. A few days ago I had a lead come in for a production copier. When I opened the lead I saw that the person requesting information was from my home town. Since my home town is small I knew exactly where he lived or worked. It was a town house complex and I thought he might be running the business from that location, but production print? Thinking that was not possible.

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago (Last Week of January 2010)
Prospecting never ends, it's the daily grind that we have a love hate relationship with. Some days are good while most are not that good, however if you continue prospecting you'll never find your pipeline dry or be on the unemployment line. Today I came up with an idea for crafting emails. Today I was prospecting very large clients via email. My idea worked! I love it when a plan comes together. If someone can tell me the location of the title picture, I'll give you a free premium...

To Ricoh "What I Want for Christmas 2019"
I always like to start these Christmas blogs with a small story about Christmas tradition in other countries. On Christmas Eve, children, especially boys, often go out singing 'kalanda' (carols) in the streets. They play drums and triangles as they sing. Sometimes they will also carry model boats decorated with nuts which are painted gold. Carrying a boat is a very old custom in the Greek Islands. If the children sing well, they might be given money, as well things to eat like nuts, sweets...

ITEX 2017 Muratec America Leads the Way with Color Label Presses
All of theses years in the business and I've never attended an ITEX event, hard to believe right? In the eighties and nineties I was able to attend a few of the NOMDA events and those were some killer events. Just think, all of the manufacturers, suppliers and dealers at one event at the same time. It was one giant party event. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to catch three pre-show events. Muratec America kicked off the day with there four hour Muratec University. Walking in to the event...

The Quest for $200K "Murphy's Law"
See, it's not only you, all of us can have a bad day, a week or dare I say a month! It all started last yesterday afternoon when I had a pretty decent failure with my brakes on the way home yesterday. I was able to nurse my car to my mechanics with out any incidents. Whew! When I woke, I felt like I was Murphy from "Z Nation", and wondering if our cat had parked it's fat ass on my head during the overnight. After an hour or so I climbed the stairs to my home office and made sure I alerted my...

From Ricoh: A replacement for the W6700 that comes apart in such a way that it can simply be installed up a flight of stairs. Also as noted in about 6 months I'll start having leases come to end of term where I won't have a new product (from Ricoh) that I can offer them. I will have alternatives to offer my customers from another manufacturer. Ball's in your court Ricoh. A color wide format that is reliable and easy to load paper and can properly stack output. A replacement for the C401 that...

Leading - Remote Workers Through The Glass - It's not about Hybrid
A few years ago, I began suggesting that the new business world and much of life’s activities would occur in what I described as “The intersection between the physical and digital worlds.” It is so imperative for all to embrace the realities of that intersection. It is now mandatory that all leaders understand how to lead from behind the glass in that intersection between the digital and physical worlds. Leaders must stop searching for a utopia where the old way takes power over creating the...
