Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

We're still trying to figure out this whole wide format thing out. Had a repro company also that would not even glance at the 7140 nor the supposed upgrade

I'm pretty sure that the repro companies think that Oce' is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am hard pressed to find any that don't have oce

Jason, We don't were a repro company as well and we only use KIP. It's tough getting a company to switch.... But like I said look for a big switch over to color in the next couple of years.

I have only heard about Fluorescent Yellow. I think you will see all. I also think the 9110 is able to add the 5th station(hope so anyway).

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Sorry Randy, you may not have known. Art once forgot to close the gate on his station wagon and a copier he had in the back rolled out and down the street when he drove off. I was referring to that when I made my comment

Re: Gas Price Check
The oil business is very complex. It's much like the stock market. Let's say you own a gas station. You buy a 1000 gallons of gas at $1.00 per gallon. You sell it for $2.00 per gallon. Your make a nice profit BUT, you call to order another 1000 gallons and it's now selling for $2.00 per gallon. There go your profits. You must raise your price to meet the new wholesale price. While your $2.00 gas is in the ground the price drops to $1.00 per gallon. What do you do? Refinery issues, pipline...

I drove by a station today that was at $3.62 with about 30 cars waiting. Not more than 1 hour later, the same station was up to $3.89. If something doesn't change soon, all my commissions will go to fill the tank.

Snopes says: Origins: The two most important basic facts about this misguided scheme for lowering gas prices are: • It was written several years ago, when the world oil market was considerably different than it is today. • It wasn't accurate even at the time it was written, containing many gross statistical errors and exhibiting a severely flawed grasp of oil industry economics. Although the message quoted above doesn't address where (outside of the Middle East) we import oil from, many...

Driving to work in Nashville today, I stopped at an intersection. I could see 3 gas stations. Here were their prices: Exxon: $3.47 BP: $3.49 Walmart: $3.25 2 miles down the road, I saw $3.21 at a new station that had just opened (turned out to be the lowest price in Nashville).

Re: Gas Price Check
Art, you've got it. Plus factor in the substantially increased mortality risk driving 100,000 miles in a 50mpg vehicle versus a 20mpg vehicle. We mask that by showing crash ratings based on the fiction that a tiny car will always hit or be hit by a similar tiny car. That's how you can have 5 star crash ratings for the Smart Car and 3 star crash ratings for Hummer H2's, by pretending that all collisions will involve a similar sized vehicle. You can probably pick up 2mpg with just the...

Since they have the Fiery, once the job is printed it can be archived on the Fiery, all print settings will stay with that job. Make sure they have command work station installed on their PC and log into the fiery controller, right click on the print job and archive it.

Re: e-STUDIO 306LP Question
The e306LP offers a colour scanner. The scans can be either blue or black based upon your selection.
Reply
Re: e-STUDIO 306LP Question
That's good right? I was just curious if when scanning the blue the scanned documents would be very light even if you were scanning with the black mode.

Re: e-STUDIO 306LP Question
Images are dark and fully formed assuming black is selected as your scan setting.

Does anyone have the MSRP and dealer cost for the Toner, Drum, and Developer for this system? Thanks, Jake

Re: e-STUDIO 306LP Question
While the e306LP is an innovative product it is unlikely to displace any colour unit sales. As colour is more than half of what I sell, this leaves this product with a declining mono colour market to appeal to. The RD30 recycle unit makes the price of the solution much more than an equivalent eStudio 306. The e306LP does not have a stapling option. I find that most customers are interested in the ideas of ecology with their copiers but they are not willing to pay a premium for it.

Another thing all of these new machines including the 6502 and 8100 have is an insanely fast ADF, 120 sheets per minute or 240 images per minute duplex. Everyone that sees these comments how fast the ADF is.

Re: CFG & SSL Reader problem with Plotbase
Heres another problem I sometimes see. Today I received 3 calls from customers, all in the farthest reaches of our area. All have expired licenses. I would suspect from previous post (see above) that power outages or improper shutdowns could be the reason. I would hate to think that this software is unstable as was the Repro for the 7030.

Re: Can another aplication run on eCopy
You can hit the "start" key and get normal XP screen. You can alt-tab between applications. While this makes it "possible" to run other things on the ecopy station, I'd never suggest that a customer does it. Once they start using the station for otehr things, they'll cause problems. Problems will generate service calls.

Re: What's the application that will cause Capture to really grow in the MFP space
Geeesh, you ask a great question! I really not sure if there is an answer for that. All of my accounts scan whether it's scan2email or scan2folder. Most are then moving those documents to a place on the server or another pc where they are stored in a windows alpha tree folder structure. When I speak about entering meta data at the copier, so that they can perform a better search, it seems to have turned them off. Many users feel that they can find the documents that they've scanned and don't...

Re: What's the application that will cause Capture to really grow in the MFP space
So, you mentioned features...maybe the ability to just scan the document into a single repository while entering no meta data, no barcodes, and then the ability to find that document. I know it sounds kinda crazy but wouldn't that be the holy grail?

Re: What's the application that will cause Capture to really grow in the MFP space
Art: I certainly agree based on my past experience, people don't want to spend a lot of time typing information at the control panel. And I think I agree for some applications, having "auto-sorting" is the ideal. But does anyone see the need for scanning and pulling data into an application for analysis not just indexing?
