Boston, March 4, 2008 – At AIIM On Demand, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, today introduced the new imagePRESS C6000VP and imagePRESS C6000 digital presses, and imagePROGRAF iPF720 and iPF605 large format printers. In addition, the Company launched new versions of several of its popular imageWARE offerings, added offerings to its imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program and previewed a new imagePRESS black-and-white digital production printing platform at the show.

imagePRESS C6000VP/C6000 Digital Presses
Building upon the success of its revolutionary imagePRESS C7000VP digital press, Canon expanded its line of digital presses with the introduction of the imagePRESS C6000VP and imagePRESS C6000. Designed to produce the highest color image quality in the marketplace and maintain the same high durability, productivity and value of its sister model, the imagePRESS C7000VP, the imagePRESS C6000VP is capable of printing images up to 1200 X 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution with a level of quality that rivals offset printing, while maintaining its engine speed of 60 letter-sized pages-per-minute (ppm) regardless of media weight. The new imagePRESS C6000 provides entry level production environments a level of quality, speed and versatility never before available at such an attractive price point, making this press the best value in the market.
In addition, Canon introduced the Canon Perfect Binder at the show. Designed specifically for the imagePRESS digital press, the Perfect Binder makes it easy for any print provider to achieve high-quality books with no operator intervention. Also, when used with imageWARE Prepress Manager, cover creation and document layout is made simple.
Technology Preview: imagePRESS Black-and-White Digital Production Press Platform
Following the launch of the popular and much talked about imagePRESS line of color digital presses, Canon U.S.A. today provided show attendees with a preview of a new imagePRESS black-and-white production platform that is expected to be unveiled later this year. This new platform will deliver a level of quality and performance that will enable production environments to improve and expand their black-and-white offerings.
The prototype imagePRESS black-and-white production system on display in the Canon booth will be running at 135 letter-sized pages-per-minute (ppm). The future imagePRESS black-and-white digital press, designed to create professional-looking documents and on-demand perfect bound booklets, will feature a number of finishing and output options at the show.
imagePROGRAF iPF 720 and iPF 605 Large Format Printers
Expanding its line of popular large format offerings, Canon introduced two new imagePROGRAF large format printers designed for Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) applications, as well as entry-level users in general office environments. Positioned as the Company's flagship model in its line of large format printers, the new 36-inch imagePROGRAF iPF720 incorporates a built-in 80GB hard drive ideal for medium to large workgroup users who need to print large files or sets of files from multiple workstations. The new 24-inch imagePROGRAF iPF605 is an affordable solution for personal and small workgroup users producing large format technical drawings.
New Software Offerings
In addition to top-of-the-line and innovative hardware offerings, Canon provides a number of Canon-branded and third-party applications that deliver value to the end users through advanced document management, handling and delivery capabilities. At AIIM On Demand, Canon introduced the latest versions of a few of its most popular software offerings, and a third-party application using Canon's MEAP technology to help better and more easily handle documents and document management.
Canon's imageWARE Prepress Manager provides print shop operators with an easy and intuitive document make-ready tool complete with detailed page layout viewing options, page level editing control, support for variable data and the ability to export documents in PDF format complete with job ticketing settings. With the introduction of the Perfect Binder for the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, customers utilizing imageWARE Prepress Manager can now completely automate the process of book creation easily supporting document imposition, registration marks, spine editing and binding options.
imageWARE Enterprise Management Console was developed to provide advanced automated task management, such as retrieving/distributing device settings and Address Books, rebooting devices, discovering new devices, meter collection and sending e-mail alerts. The new imageWARE Enterprise Management Console Version 2.0 provides an enhanced Installer that requires very minimal user operation during the installation process and an enhanced User Interface to simplify user interaction.
imageWARE Document Manager is a document management system that allows users to effectively manage critical business documents from the desktop to the enterprise, while Canon's imageWARE Scan Manager is an image-capture front-end that can be used with document and content management applications to perform batch scanning and production-level indexing. The newest versions, imageWARE Document Manager Version 4.1 and imageWARE Scan Manager Version 4.1, offer improved user operation features and MFP integration for efficient business workflow.
imageWARE Accounting Manager Version 5.1 expands Canon's capabilities by aiding customers in better controlling document production costs. imageWARE Accounting Manager is used in varying industry sectors, including legal, education, architectural and general business environments, to effectively track document product costs, assign costs to appropriate users, or to bill clients for document production related activities. With support for Windows Vista, SQL 2005 and enhancements in billing code functionality, imageWARE Accounting Manager Version 5.1 improves Canon's ability to meet changing customer operating environments.
PaperToOffice Pro, an application developed by Panasonic Solutions Technologies Co., Ltd., supports Canon's MEAP technology. Consisting of embedded and desktop components that convert paper documents to electronic Microsoft Office formats, PaperToOffice Pro will allow users to scan paper-based documents and select the Microsoft Office output type (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, PDF or text) directly from the interface of Canon imageRUNNER MFPs.
Latest imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program Offerings
Through its imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program, Canon will be offering a number of solutions and integrations that complement the imagePRESS line of digital presses. They include Printable's Web-to-print solution, FusionPro Web, to help print providers automate and streamline production processes; EFI's integrated server-based PDF workflow solution, Fiery Central, to centrally integrate workflow processes and better manage outputs; and the integration of Screen's Trueflow SE prepress production workflow application with the imagePRESS C7000VP to leverage a company's existing investment in equipment and training.
