Re: KIP and HP wide format service and Oce, Xerox, KIP comparison
The Xerox 6204 uses a Fuju Xerox controller which has no auto recognition of file types. This can cause the controller to lock up require operator intervention to clear the queue.
The 6204 cannot save print jobs for later recall and use.
The Xerox 6204 is listed as a mono component device; however it is not 100% toner efficient and requires a waste toner bottle to be replaced. The unit will shut down if the waste toner bottle is full
The 6204 delivers prints out the front of the unit. With a full configuration of scanner and printer, this eliminates the possibility of using sophisticated finishing devices like a folder because it blocks the operator’s access in front.
The 6204 does not support DWF printing.
The cost of PDF support for the 6204 is $1400, twice the cost of the KIP 3000 PDF converter.
The BT Plot Assistant Software (print submission tool) does not have a viewer.
The Controller re-rips or processes files per copy, i.e. if a user sends a tiff file to print 10 copies, the controller processes the file 10 times. This is very slow and inefficient in a set printing environment.
The 6204 cannot scan to FTP.
The operator panel on the 6204 is a small, difficult to navigate backlit screen. The KIP 3000 screen is a large color screen that users prefer.
You cannot buy the 6204 as a copier only.
You cannot adjust the speed of the scanner – 3 ips.
The 6204 is upgradeable to 5 “D”’s, however, you must also upgrade the power to 220.
Prints limited to 99.
You can only scan to 50 mailboxes.
