more than 1 trillion yen after sales totaled 559 billion yen at Konica and 528.1 billion yen at Minolta on a group basis. However, industry analysts said the performances of the two companies' photo copier and digital camera businesses lag far behind the leaders and the merged company is expected to remain in a tough environment. In the initial phase of the integration, the new company plans to push for sales promotion of Minolta's office-use color printers and Konica's optical equipment parts

Court Rules Against Xerox

not expected to have any immediate affect on the company's funding of the plan, the company said. The ruling comes as Xerox looks to grow sales of its equipment after enduring years of troubling issues, including a federal probe into its accounting practices. Earlier this week, the company posted slightly lower second-quarter earnings, as weak demand for supplies and services overshadowed improving sales of new copiers and printers. Shares of Xerox closed on Friday at $10.65, off 15 cents.

When printing to a color copier however, this is a bad thing, since they don't use dots, a low LPI setting will result in "jaggy" images due to the low resolution. Last, i've noticed the LPI setting greatly affects the smothness of Color Blends in Quark. THis only applies to actual blends you create in Quark. We must not forget the Riso V8000 2-color single-pass system. I also can't speak for registration variance Riso vs Ricoh nor TC-II vs. 2 passes. I'm mearly suggesting that it makes for a compelling argument...whether it actually holds water, I don't know. Riso quotes a +or- one millimeter as an "acceptible variance on their current product line not counting the V8000. I don't sell the Ricoh nor do I compete against it so I can't speak to the registration or lack thereof.

Re: 400 DPI IMAGE MOVEMENT!!!

bmiller (Guest) ·
I thought that 1 mm would be acceptable as well. I think that it is hard to compete trying to sell a dup and a tc11 when there is competitive 1 pass system that will lay two colors well and consistently. I wonder if, in the long term, the RICOH will stay consistent with a certain margin on movment, and the riso will start going all over the place. That I do not know, but that is the argument my higher ups are sticking to. I appreciate everyones input. Thanks again, Brian

I didn't check the spec's, but from what I have experienced it does not slow down the speed of the copier. But I have had some customers complain that it cannot Z fold to the edge on the last fold. Canon designed it to leave a 6mm gap for some reason and it cannot be adjusted to compensate. Most companies that have interest in using the Z fold to insert ledger documents into letter spec books are used to have a "clean" edge fold. Also, the Z fold is only an option if used in conjunction

Dmap it and the dealer will be authorized ricoh dealers...you can specify which dealer. To find dealer go to ricoh-usa.com then go to contact ricoh then service location database then select state and product line. This is the best way to find independent dealers. There is also a master list you can try to get from your DSM, but that is always the hardest.

Even if they do raise it to the $855 - after offering it at $573, I would imagine promos would continue or there will be a riot - but at $855 for the package, it is less than the printer only option with the two additional pieces that are necessary anyway (unless you get your memory elsewhere, then it is a little more).

Think of it as a print driver. It sends it to the 1035 as a print and with the GW it realized it as a fax and send it to the fax module. So you have to install it as a "printer" with the same IP address. http://us.support.ricoh.com/ht...5_45/af1035_45en.htm It should also be on the one of the CD's.

You, the time traveler, move through the universe (or your territory, if you're one of us puny earthlings) at a certain rate of speed. It probably takes you 30 minutes to drive 15 miles in the average city/suburb. However, during that 30 minutes, the copier would have produced a certain amount of copies and/or prints. Nope, just the e-mail interface built in to the 1060/75 print/scan option. One thing, if they are using some sort of internal e-mail server than you need to use that IP address as the SMTP (provided it is an SMTP server too) if not, then you are going to need to get the DNS and SMTP stuff directly from their ISP. If their entire network is behind some kind of internal software firewall, you will need to configure it to allow the 1060 to get outside of the firewall

POP3 accounts are for recieving e-mail. If Scan Router PRO tries to recieve e-mail to deliver to a fax or something like that it will need POP3 information. Similar to the NIC fax unit on the 5510NF. If you don't need it to do POP3 recieveing and can turn it off, do that. The other option is to set up a "ghost" e-mail account to send the POP information to. SOME ISP's require POP authentication prior to allowing you to send SMTP e-mail. Some require POP and SMTP authentication and others

First of all, the 1045P comes with 64MB of memory if I'm not mistaken. Secondly, I suspect the reason why user stamp is greyed out is because there hasn't been one saved there yet. Go to user tools-copier settings-Stamp-User Stamp-Program/Delete and save a user stamp. Then see if it is still greyed out.

I was told that it is basically the CL5000 as a copier. The color rep who showed us the CL5000 said that the copier uses a different toner cartridge, but it is on the same order. All cartridges are arranged vertically on the left side, one drum, paper path up the right side like the 1022. I will be at a launch for the color copiers on 2/25.

I had this come up with a vehicle manufacturer and they print an enormous amount of check prints in that size. We convinced them to use a connected digital copier (1022-1027-1035)because of the cost difference. $0.025 cpc(11x17) vs $0.196 per linear ft.(470 ems) About a $225.00 per month difference in cost. They're only 5 years old. The machines on 3 or 4 year leases do have value. You and I are both selling used 550's and 650's. They still are decent machines. In a year or so, however, they too will be basically junk. So from the leasing company's view, a 5 year FMV lease is a write off when they get it

Increasingly, however, it is possible to print directly from the electronic version, either by sending it to a high-resolution laser printer or to a special device that can generate plates directly from electronic elements rather than from photographs. From: Graham Sent: 9/22/2002 3:37 PM From what I understand, you can turn off the automatic callibration (callibration sometimes gets in the way of time when printing) I know this is not recommended by Ricoh. The printer automaticly callibrates everytime it is turned on and from time to time during operation. If you auto callibration off, it will only callibrate when it is power cycled. This could possibly be the problem that you are having and why it is good to go after powercycled. Just an

From: spressomon Sent: 5/10/2002 8:46 AM It gets down to the fact Ricoh and most of the Japanese copier companies are not true business partners with their independent dealers. We all have numerous, validatable, horror stories about them. Some of our issues would even prove Ricoh has violated federal (monopoly) laws. But here we go every day trying to put all that behind us in the essence of trying to make a decent, honest buck.

From: Mr. Tibbs Sent: 7/15/2002 7:29 AM I'm not too sure about the Ricoh AP4500 Printer, but the AP3800C can be "secured" so that only hosts with a certain IP scheme can print to it. Try to configure the Access Control Address and the Access Control Mask on the NIC. If you read your network manual, it will explain how to set this up. Hope this information helps....

I was able to submit print jobs over the internet and watch the status of the controllers change from ready to printing and back to ready, read the counters, watch them increment, etc. Thanks! Lee

Since this is a known issue (the coalate box) hopefully, in time Ricoh will do something to simplify this for the customers within their drivers.

However, he mentioned that the printers have the capability for IP printing? A few questions. 1. Could we plug an Aficio 1022 w/scan router lite and have the docs directed to the printer for IP printing? No, this is not a capability of any of the ScanRouter Products. 2. rom: Graham Sent: 10/31/2002 6:05 PM I have a hard time believing that you are out of the ball park on the 6513 unless Xerox has done some major price reductions. I lost one with an E-820 to Xerox based on print samples alone (The print samples from the Xerox were from a system that and an additional $10K option installed on it NOT what they bought) now the customer is regretting buying the Xerox. We were lower than Xerox at DMAP6. Remember, you can use DMAP6 cost for Any print for pay customer.

Art Post (Guest) ·
Art, The Fuser Unit yield is impacted more by the number of pages per set. The lower the number of pages per set, the lower the yield on the Fuser Unit. This is pretty much true with all Color laser printers on the market today, not just Ricoh. Hope this helps. I also have AP3800C on the network, is there anyway to set a destination ikon on the Scan Panel so that whe we scan a document it will print to the AP3800C? Or is there a way we can scan it to a folder and have it print as soon as it's recieved in the folder with no user intervention?

In other words, you can't just walk up to the machine and randomly input various email addresses that are not programmed. Any validity to this? Thanks, Shawn

From: Ted Sent: 11/22/2002 6:28 AM I'm sure it would not have been difficult for Ricoh to put the same features, i.e. all the user stamp functions and booklet making mode on the 3800CMF. However, they still need a reason for us to sell the B (&W) 35cpm machines. Once they get the cost of the black toner cost down, the 35cpm, in my opinion, will become obsolete. You can easily cost justify the 3800CMF vs the AF1035 with all the extra you get. Just the cost of the Black is too high right now.
