1) The best way from a company point of view is to bill by the hour. If you’re just installing a print or fax driver on one or two PC’s, this should not take long. However when you get into scanning to folder or email, you need settings that some customer have know idea what you’re talking about. Kyocera vs. Ricoh

·
For whatever it is worth, here is how I sell Kyocera and Ricoh.... In the Kyocera line, there are really only 5 Black and White machines that I personally push, those are the middle segment systems KM3035-KM4035-KM5035 and KM4530 KM5530. They all come in at much lower price point and service costs as the Ricoh 2035-2045-1055 systems and the 55 has scanning where the Ricoh does not. Ricoh still has it up to 27ppm and 60ppm on up both from functionality and service cost though. Pricing is pretty

If you want to beat an IR C3200 with the Ricoh, simply pick a sample file that has a solid blue or purple background and have them automatic duplex the prints. The Canon will leave little white specs on the second side of the print. Also, have them do a photo original off of the glass. The Canon does not have a good scan quality off of the glass. This makes them an important target in every account we call on, and if we don't do something to be very different we will pay a heavy price. I have spoken to a great many IT people and told them what I was going to do, and why. They all agree that the certification in these diciplines won;t get me the order, but they will get me opportunities.

cost is higher, but I can not prove it, so I believe I am being conservative at the .07 cents per square foot. We then have the cost for paper. please remember that the best reproduction on an ink jet plotter with ink jet paper, the same as most ink jet printers. Most companies buy a better grade of paper for thier "black line drawings" (blueprints) and then will buy something cheaper for thier "check plots" (check prints). The better the paper the higher the cost. I use the cost of .055 per

We got a call from our Ricoh rep today informing us Ricoh is closing out the Aficio 1013/1013F. Has anyone heard what Ricoh might use as the replacement system for the A1013/1013F?

I have a customer that is running 6-8K/mo b&w and 1K/mo color volumes on a 6513. They needed the 6513 at the time because of the quality prints (this was sold by a former sales rep). The problems we are having is that the system is eating up fuser & oil units and causing numerous other problems in the field. The customer is using Office Depot paper, which has very ragged edges and a porous surface, to run their b&w volume on. My service dept. is telling me that the paper is causing most of the

Is there a possibility that the document page setup has color as the default? For example, they are using a process black (CMYK) to print their Black pages. If so the process black will count as a full color page. I ran into this with a MAC installation.

Inkjet plotting. Outsourcing is perceived as saving on labor costs, but you have to consider turnaround time, travel time if they have to deliver copies for reproduction. I would also consider the scanning aspect. It would be less expensive in most cases to scan your own drawings to archive or FTP site than pay someone who will charge a premium. Scan charges in our area are between $4.00 and $6.00 per page. It all depends on the account.

BULL! The 6513 is also a 50PPM black print speed and 11 ppm color, the problem is the system is hard to service and maintain. We have a few systems that are running a volume of 10K each. However not to do combat with service, why not put a trial in for the a few months and see what happens, if the black volume is printing just give them a laser printer for a few months. ACS (auto color select) is also on the 1224 and 1232. When you select ACS the system then looks at all of the originals being fed and if it is a b & w then it copies/prints in b & w. If it is in color then it copies/prints in color so you can have mixed originals of b & w and color and the system will then produce the set as is. unlike the 3800 where if you set the system for color ALL of the copies/prints would be color clicks.

I know the technology, I have not actually performed this specific scenario ... so those who have please verify that all functions are available. They should be because all the bridge does is take the place of the wiring. I had a customer hook up a 1055 with a wireless print server. The SmartNet would not work in this case because the wireless print server connected through the parallel port. But in the bridge scenario, connection is made through the Ricoh NIC so all functions should be

As far as they were running from the cassette, I would have asked the customer if the by-pass would be ok on the new system. I have been doing this too long too have ill will and problems (even though, you can do a great job and still get "hung"). If the customer then stated no, I would have tried to

A wireless bridge converts, or "bridges", a wired ethernet appliance to wireless. D-Link 802.11g Wireless Bridge for $99.99 from Tiger Direct can give you faster commumication speed than the 802.11b Ricoh interface ... and because the connection is made through the RJ45 port on the NIC, all functions should be available. Teachers around here loves that one. Another good one is scan to pc. All teachers have texts books for students and workbooks for them. Have teachers cut the binder off the workbook and scan to there pc. Than they can print only the pages they need plus have them 3 hole punch, staple and covers.

A bit is the smallest unit of information a computer understands. It has two possible states: it can be on or it can be off. All computer information is handled in this way.If there are 2-bits per pixel, the number of colors each pixel can display rises to four. Two-bits per pixel means each pixel has 2 bits and each bit has two states: on and off. In mathematical terms, 2 bits x 2 states = 4 colors. In printing we are then talking about the color depth or resolution. The more bits per pixel

Just an opinion but while their faxes are great low end machines, from what I see their color printers will not run as reliable as I think a printer should. their warranty for replacement boards is very good but you cannot even order parts from their web site. As for parts sometimes I wait for weeks for a common gear or motor. In a low volume enviroment say 200 prints a month there okay. I like their price point and their dot printers, their faxes and low end printers. Just one persons opinion

There are no laser based wide format color systems out there from the major manufacturers. If there are, they are price prohibitive. What your customer would find would be a couple of systems to meet his or her needs. Oce has a TCS400 system which is a separate scanner, controller and printer. They can scan the color document and direct it to print on the inkjet printer. No doubt an expensive output solution because it is ink based. Probably looking at the $40,000 range for this one. The 1075 is $1,000 and $1,500 respectively for competative machines. You get a $1,200 trade-up for the 1075 only against Ricoh Base machines whether it's connectd or not. If they are sending to less than 2000 destinations, and don't require authentication. You're good to go out of the box. I'm told there is a way to create a csv? file form you e-mail address book and upload to the copier via smartnet monitor. If they require authentication or direct access to mailserver then you add Global Scan. Pete M.

more than 1 trillion yen after sales totaled 559 billion yen at Konica and 528.1 billion yen at Minolta on a group basis. However, industry analysts said the performances of the two companies' photo copier and digital camera businesses lag far behind the leaders and the merged company is expected to remain in a tough environment. In the initial phase of the integration, the new company plans to push for sales promotion of Minolta's office-use color printers and Konica's optical equipment parts

Court Rules Against Xerox

not expected to have any immediate affect on the company's funding of the plan, the company said. The ruling comes as Xerox looks to grow sales of its equipment after enduring years of troubling issues, including a federal probe into its accounting practices. Earlier this week, the company posted slightly lower second-quarter earnings, as weak demand for supplies and services overshadowed improving sales of new copiers and printers. Shares of Xerox closed on Friday at $10.65, off 15 cents.

When printing to a color copier however, this is a bad thing, since they don't use dots, a low LPI setting will result in "jaggy" images due to the low resolution. Last, i've noticed the LPI setting greatly affects the smothness of Color Blends in Quark. THis only applies to actual blends you create in Quark. We must not forget the Riso V8000 2-color single-pass system. I also can't speak for registration variance Riso vs Ricoh nor TC-II vs. 2 passes. I'm mearly suggesting that it makes for a compelling argument...whether it actually holds water, I don't know. Riso quotes a +or- one millimeter as an "acceptible variance on their current product line not counting the V8000. I don't sell the Ricoh nor do I compete against it so I can't speak to the registration or lack thereof.

Re: 400 DPI IMAGE MOVEMENT!!!

bmiller (Guest) ·
I thought that 1 mm would be acceptable as well. I think that it is hard to compete trying to sell a dup and a tc11 when there is competitive 1 pass system that will lay two colors well and consistently. I wonder if, in the long term, the RICOH will stay consistent with a certain margin on movment, and the riso will start going all over the place. That I do not know, but that is the argument my higher ups are sticking to. I appreciate everyones input. Thanks again, Brian
