We sell a lot of these a4 machines. The cost per page is at or below others A3, has all the features of a larger a3 machine without the costs. The machine will run well over 8 k per month without problems. The color quality is much better than that washed out look that you get from lesser brands.

I don’t have a fancy picture, nor a creative meme hashtagmemes and not even a fancy sales gimmick to tell you about. What I received today was an order for $45k from an an account that I’ve been stopping in for 30 years! I’ve lost so many times over that time span to this client. Loss after loss after loss and yet I kept coming back for more. I guess I thought that my persistence would eventually pay off at some point. There was no magic, no special deal, and no gimmicks that finally landed the order.

It was more about the relationship that was built over a LONG time. That relationship now spans two generations. There’s nothing new in selling, it’s still about the seller meeting the buyer. Then the trust that is gained by having genuine conversations. I’d also add that we place this in a lot of SOHO environments (small office home office) configured as “table top” or freestanding. We’ve won a number of accounts against competition because this is a legit baby “copier”. We can put them in with a fleet of it’s big brothers and not worry about this one being different. Used to sell these all the time to clients that didn't need A3. The Quick Menu, OOXML scanning and high quality colour output would win many deals. Not to mention the price. Used to sell it for around $3k purchase price (~$60/month lease) at $0.013 black, $0.095 colour with a 30% gross margin. The only other A4 machine on the market that's better (IMO) is the KM bizhub C3850FS.

I read past the "bill" description too fast. A bill is not law, it is, I think, just an expression of unanimous opinion by the Senate. Somewhere in the news this week, I read that Kyocera intends to increase production of A3 copiers in China by expanding a current factory. I am sure all copier manufacturers plan 10+ years into the foreseeable future and cannot worry about politicians who could come and go every four years.

@printguy @Art Post We have not sold a single one yet. Most people seem to have no interest in ink. I like the product. It is a Kyocera finisher. The problem with the finisher is that it slows the machine down to half speed. So ultimately someone is getting a 50ppm system, not a 100ppm if you have the finisher. Space is an issue if you have the finisher. I talk about the product to everyone but most people revert back to a toner system. I don't think this is going to be a game changer as

Oce did that 10 years ago and went bust. They didn't realise how much they relied on the monthly rental income and how inflexible third party leasing companies are when you want to upgrade mid term. The financing arm is usually the most profitable side of the business. High interest rate to customers, low rates for them and if the customer goes bust you generally get you equipment back and at the end of the contract you get your gear back.

I have a customer who was using a Xerox Job Build feature to copy mixed single and double sided documents (so they are not charged a click for blank pages). How can I do this on a Savin/Ricoh? With Xerox Job Build you can tell the copier these pages are single sided and these pages are double allowing you to only be charged for the pages with coverage. More than a few copier/ printers are manufactured in Thailand and the Philippines due to low labor costs. I do not know but I think these products tend to be more low end A4 and printer products. I think most A3 product is made in China. I can only speak for Toshiba but I know the majority of North American toner is made in North Dakota. As I am from Canada, I am hoping with fingers crossed that this very likely US tariff war with China will not effect us.

I have not yet competed against an A3 inkjet copier but I work with a dealer who has access to the HP line. He has one in stock but is unable to sell it yet. The last 10 A3 MFPs he sold were all laser. For quality prints, the HP needs premium paper. Customers are also very reluctant to leave toner based MFPs. They seem indifferent to the difference between Laser and LED technology. More than 50% of Xerox's current A3 product line is based upon LED technology.

SSG Thanks for the reply. I've seen the prints on both the Epson, and PageWide devices, they are very good when printing on regular bond. You are correct that the best image is with inkjet paper. It's my belief that once reps start showing samples and asking if color stays in house or leave the premise will dictate whether the rep shows ink or toner based MFP's. The Step Lease is great for those times when a prospect needs to upgrade to something bigger, better, faster but the budget is set for the balance of the current fiscal year. "If I can get you the better equipment now without going over budget, would you be interested?" Here is something I don't see others do very often...when going in early to renew a 36 month lease, I don't don't "eat" the buy-out, I extend the term. If I'm going to renew at 34 months, I write the renewal for 38 months. I explain to the DM that it ends up being the same 72 months, they just get the benefit of the lower renewal payment a couple months more. The extra funding from a 38 month rate doesn't cover all the cost of the 2 months of buy-outs but it sure helps. All you have to do is call the leasing company to get a rate quote for a 38 month term.

Art is correct. Like Dropbox or OneDrive, you can scan to a folder in the user directory that is linked to the cloud account. ICE allows you to scan to the cloud without having the PC in the middle and allows users to have access to any cloud account, not just the one on a PC. The workaround described would require the cloud app folder to be installed on the PC therefore any user would need to have a PC with said cloud app running on it.

I have a user who is intermittently having problems printing from their Mac to a Savin MPC3004ex. When they print, they are getting a sheet that says: Error: Syntaxerror Offending Command: true cvt lfpgm glyf ( \head Stack: -mark- /sfnts I believe this is a PostScript error. Any idea how to resolve this issue? I have removed and re-added the printer. I have changed the printer from PostScript Emulation back to PostScript. While driving today I thought about why I lost an opportunity and it was no fault of my own, however it was due to the end of the year push.  That end of the year push was from a direct branch of a manufacturer.  It was a dump on price to get the order in before the end of the year.  Thus, most of us know that the magic month for pushing from manufacturers is the month of March, because the end of the fiscal year is March 31st.  But, how many times do we think about when our dealer competitors fiscal year ends?  Not all dealers end their fiscal day on the last day of December!  Thus take some time to know more about your geo competitors and make a note of when their fiscal year ends.  Knowing this little piece of info will help you in winning that business.

Bill I'm not sure why more dealers aren't turning to tiered billing. Maybe they do trust the software? I know our Ricoh's can do it also, but it's never brought up to help sales. It was almost two weeks ago when I met with a net new client.  The interest from the client was for a wide format MFP to replace two HP inkjet plotters, one working and one non working.  At the end of the meeting I was told he would get back to me tomorrow with a decision because he wanted to discuss the finance terms I provided with his accountant.  It's now been two weeks of a couple emails back and forth with the client telling on one occasion that he was swamped.  My latest follow up on Thursday did not get a response.  Of course my fear is that he is getting other quotes and that's the first thing that comes to mind.  On the other hand he could be swamped and has put the decision making on the back burner.  Would love to hear from others for the next step?

I sell in the largest market in the US. I have competition from two Mega dealers and every Direct Branch in my territory. It was some cool that Kyocera nor Toshiba could play in that production space. Just add another competitor to an already bloodied battle field for product. Wonder what the execs@ Ricoh have to day about this at the upcoming Ricoh Convergence in Vegas. Wish I could be there, however our dealership only takes the brown nosers.

I'm not a happy camper either. Kyocera should have stepped up and made their own light production equipment. Not to hurt anyone's feelings here but the last time they rebranded Ricohs it was a disaster. The equipment didn't perform. This was A4 equipment however so we will see with this but I won't sell them. I will go to our other brand. Proceed with caution is all I have to say about that.

You might look into Ricoh's "Mail to Print". This is where you can assign a working email address to the copier and email an attachment to the copier. The attachment automatically prints when the email arrives. You don't need to be on the network (you could be in Hong Cong : and you don't need an app or driver. Some rules... the MFP has to have the Fax Option and the email can only have one attachment and the attachment has to be a pdf, jpeg or tiff. I just set this up at the office for a

I've added the printer in CUPS, but the drivers aren't there (model does not appear in the list), so I've tried to set it up using RAW. That does not work either. Hate to say it but the last time Kyocera did this with Ricohs it ended badly. I hope Kyocera isn't going to try it again. I doubt if my dealership will be buying any if that is the case. We will sell our other line first. The kickoff is this month and I can't imagine them releasing it before then. I will do some digging and see what's up. With that said Kyocera does not have any production or even light production equipment with a full finishing line... trimmers, large high cap trays etc. So

Any credible rep will advise about leasing pitfalls. For example: 1. I tell every client in detail about their end of lease options 2. I explain the documentation fee to all clients 3. I always recommend a 36 month lease unless the client demands 48 or 60 4. I explain the insurance charges to every client. In fact I explain the difference between the leasing companies insurance and the clients BOP policy. Found out years ago that Business Owner Policies do not cover flood. Leasing companies...

We were just talking about the 80's Thursday and how the first company my dad worked for would buy like 75-100 minolta's at a time and they would be gone in a matter of a few days and he was wholesaling them to anyone, anywhere, who would buy them including their own market. Then the sales reps were having to go up against their own boxes in deals being sold by other people
